Msgr. Schenning is a Baltimorean. He was born in 1954, the second son of Matthew F. Schenning of Highlandtown and Kathleen Hannon Schenning from County Mayo, Ireland. Father Kevin is of German-Dutch and Irish descent.

Monsignor Kevin grew up in Shrine of the Little Flower Parish in northeast Bal-timore. He attended elementary school there and then began high school at Saint Paul’s Latin Day Seminary. When Saint Paul’s closed, he attended Cardinal Gibbons High School and graduated from there in 1972.

Father Kevin earned his college degree at Saint Mary’s Seminary College in Ca-tonsville and then entered Saint Mary’s Seminary and University in the Roland Park area of Baltimore. He was awarded his Masters in Divinity Degree in 1981 and ordained a Deacon in May of that year. He was assigned to Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Baynesville for his diaconal experience and was then or-dained to the priesthood on November 28, 1981.

He has served very well in a number of parishes during his years as a priest:• Associate Pastor of Our Lady of

Mount Carmel Parish in Essex from 1981 to 1988

• Associate Pastor of Saint Dominic Parish in Hamilton from 1988 to 1994

• Pastor of Saint Joan of Arc Parish in Aberdeen from 1994 to 2000

• Pastor of Saint Jane Frances de Chantal Parish in Rivera Beach from 2000 to 2004

• Pastor of Saint Joseph Parish in Fullerton from 2004 to the present.

In December 2009, Pope Benedict rec-ognized all that Father had done by be-stowing the title on him of Monsignor. Throughout his years as a priest, Father Kevin has served on the Archdiocesan Presbyteral (Priests) Council, the Core Team for City Ministry, and the Priests Personnel Board.

God Bless America

When I was a child of five or soI heard it on the radio --A song that touched me

through and throughPerhaps it also moved you too.

A very lovely gifted voiceWas singing words of lovely choice

And to this day I get a thrillI’m sure that I just always will.

When Kate Smith lifts her voice in song

I pray that nothing will go wrong. As “God Bless America” fills the air

It also fills my heart with prayer.

In this Year of Mercy, Pope Francis has asked us to focus on bringing hope and support to those less fortunate. Throughout the entire month of July, we as a parish will be address-ing the issue of hunger in our com-munity.

This summer campaign is called

“Christmas in July” Our parishioners are very gener-ous at Christmas time, but the need for food remains constant through-out the year. Be-ginning on July 2, we will be run-

ning a parish-wide campaign to address hunger here in Harford County. Next weekend, brown bags with an attached wish list of the most requested items from the Food Bank will be available at all doors. Total cost to fill a bag is about $20. We will collect bags until Sunday, August 7. Our parish goal is to donate 800 bags of food.

This campaign is a great family project to do before or after you go on vaca-tion. We thank you in advance for your par-ticipation and generosity.

You can also encourage them to come to the Out-reach office at Saint Margaret. Many thanks in advance for your care and generosity!

New Parishioner Greet and Meet ~ On Saturday evening, June 18, new parishioners and those interested in Saint Margaret Parish, gathered in the Adult Education Center to enjoy a wonderful evening of meeting with other parishioners and also parish staff. If you are interested in volunteering and sharing faith with the children and young people of our Parish please contact Ken Goedeke or Lisa Hack. Do not be afraid. As countless volunteer catechists for Faith Formation has said in the past, "teach-ing Faith Formation has help me grow in my own faith so much more than I have helped others grow in theirs."

some have unknowingly entertained angels.”
