    Reduce energy costs:

    Identify high power consumption

equipment by using logs and port

    monitoring

    Find opportunities for consolidation

    of underutilised equipment such as

    near-idle servers

    Use environmental monitoring to

    identify overcooling situations where

    temperatures could be increased for

    energy cost reduction

    Manage and optimise power

    capacity:

    Use real-time remote monitoring to

understand usage vs. capacity andmake informed decisions on

    equipment additions and data centre

    changes

    Evaluate actual usage versus

    design assumptions (using equipment

nameplate ratings) to understand truepower needs which may help increase

    equipment densities

    Spot and prevent potential

    problems to ensure uptime:

    Use alarms to quickly identify

    problems and drive resolution sooner

    Set alarm thresholds to spot

    potential problems such as overloads

that could lead to power loss and

    downtime

Use logs to identify erratic power

    consumption

    Use environmental monitoring to

    evaluate planned vs. actual

    temperatures to identify areas with

    insufficient cooling

Efficiently control power functionsand resolve problems quickly:

    Use individual outlet control to

    remotely restart equipment or shut

    down specific units

Use sequencing to safely start upor shut down equipment and avoid

    creating demand spikes

    Siemons line of intelligent PDUs

    provide valuable energy

    consumption data while reliably

    delivering power to critical IT

    equipment. Each of our PDU

    families deliver real-time power

    information with varying degrees

of intelligent functionality rangingfrom basic Metered units to

    full-featured Managed PDUs -

    providing multiple options based

on the level of data and control

    requirements.

Siemons intelligent PDUs may beused as stand-alone units, or they

    can communicate with third-party

    software through common open

    networking protocols.

    All of our network-capable intelligent

PDUs also have the capacity to

    connect environmental sensors,

    allowing temperature, airflow, and

humidity to be measured to further

    troubleshoot and optimise data centre

    efficiency.

    Units have environmental monitoring

    capabilities through two RJ12 ports

    to support two separately purchased

sensors directly, or up to 16 sensorsconnected via splitters

Metered PDUs provides local visualmonitoring capability through a

    built-in LED meter that displays

    real-time consumption data.

    Metered PDUs are a cost-effective

    alternative to monitored or switched

PDUs when remote monitoring is not

    desired, while providing a more

    intelligent alternative to basic PDUs.

Metered PDUs The 3 phase and 60A units measurecurrent (amps) that scrolls through

    each phase

    Single-phase PDUs measure power

    by scrolling through power factor,

    amps, volts and watts

Alarm conditions with high or low

    thresholds with notifications via buzzer,

    email, or SNMP trap

    Monitored and Smart PDUs enable

    remote monitoring of power

    consumption.

    Smart PDUs

Smart PDUs offer the highest level of

    monitioring by providing outlet-level

    data collection.

    Monitored PDUs

Monitored PDUs collect data at an

    aggregate, device- level, generating a

    smaller quantity of information to

    simplify management.

    Switched and

Managed PDUsIn addition to power monitoring,

    switched and managed PDUs

    enable users to remotely control

    individual receptacles by

allowing equipment to berestarted or remotely shut down.

    Switched PDUs

    Switched PDUs combine total PDU

    power monitoring with port-level

    switching. They are the ideal

solution when port control isneeded but only aggregate

    consumption data is desired.

    Managed PDUs

    Managed PDUs offer the highest

level of control and monitoring by

    providing outlet-level monitoring

    and outlet-level switching.

Software IntroductionThe Intelligent PDUs browser-based softwarecan be accessed through the use of the units

    individual IP address.

This can be utilised remotely to access charts, logs,

and alarms and directly interface with the unit toconfigure and define settings, including high or low

thresholds for notifications via buzzer, email, or

SNMP trap. Data can be downloaded in PDA, XML

    and SNMP formats.
