PE80 Pipe

PE80 & PE100 are extruded in the following colours:• Blue – for

potable water supply below ground.

• Yellow/Orange – for gas supply below ground.

• Black – for global water supplies, UK potable water supplies above ground and industrial (sewage, mining and quarry) applications above and below ground.

Pipes are available in 6 and 12 metre straight lengths with other lengths available to order. Pipe up to 180mm OD is also available in coils of 50m, 100m and 150m and may be supplied in longer lengths by special order. Pipe can also be extruded with four co-axial stripes to identify the contents being conveyed or to identify the application.

Long Spigot & Pupped FittingsThe GPS Long Spigot range offers a comprehensive choice of fittings suitable for butt-fusion without the need for pupping (providing that machines with narrow clamps are used). Products are available in PE80 Yellow, Blue or Black as well as PE100 Blue or Black. To facilitate easier jointing on-site, a range of fittings is also offered with factory-fitted half-metre pups in pipe sizes up to 400mm and with one-metre pups for larger pipe sizes.

In line with UK Water Industry recommendations, GPS only manufacture mitred bends where the maximum angle of an individual mitre is 22.5 degres. GPS de-rate the pressure rating of large mitred bends to 0.8 x the pipe rating from which it was made. This a 10bar pipe made into a mitred bend would be rated at 8bar and a 16bar pipe would make a 12.8bar fitting and so on. The fittings are fabricated from pipe complying with BS EN 12201-2, BS EN 13244 or WIS 4-32-17.

DuraFuse & Frialen FittingsDuraFuse electrofusion fittings are easy to use, offer superb performance and a rapid, convenient means of jointing polyethylene pipes. Their design ensures optimum melt pressure as the energising coils of wire are precisely positioned to ensure uniformly consistent melting and to minimise the risk of accidental wire damage.

Each fitting is bar coded to enable suitable electrofusion controls (ECUs) to scan the bar code in order to determine the fusion parameters. DuraFuse fittings are offered in PE80 (MDPE) Yellow, Blue or Black and in pipe sizes up to 400mm.

In addition to the DuraFuse range, GPS can also offer a range of larger diameter electrofusion fittings. The Frialen range is offered in Black PE100 with bar code labelling to facilitate fusion and data logging.

Installation InstructionsBefore installation, ensure that the end of the pipe to be inserted into the fitting is free of scratches and other imperfections and that both the pipe and the fitting itself are free of sand, mud, stones, etc.

If fittings are reused, ensure that split ring and grip teeth are sharp and bite into the pipe, to avoid pullouts.

If uncertain, replace the split ring and grip ring. The use of PTFE tape in threaded connections is strongly recommended.

For diameters 40mm and above, chamfering and lubrication of the pipe end will ease insertion (use silicone lubricant).
