She was dressed as an Aztec princess, with olive skin and black hair, clothed in magnificent colors and appearing to be pregnant. She brought a message of hope and compassion for the poor, especially for the Aztec people and for women. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the patron of Mexico and is honored throughout the Americas and the world.

Communal Reconciliation Paul Turner
The communal reconciliation service reminds us that our sin affects others and that others will forgive the wrong we’ve done. When you take part in a communal celebration of reconciliation, your confession takes a slightly different form. When you go individually to the priest in communal services:
• You need not say, “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned.”
• You need not say how long it has been since your last confession unless this information would be helpful.
• You should confess your sins.
• You should express sorrow for your sins (an act of contrition).
• You should expect very little conversation and advice from the priest because others are waiting.

Congratulations to Barbara Guenther, our pastoral associate for liturgy and music, on her recognition as the 2019 Archdiocese of Santa Fe Pastoral Musician of the Year. She received this honor November 23 at the Archdiocesan Day of Formation for Pastoral Musicians at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community in Santa Fe. In addition to her ministry at our parish, Barbara serves as the chairperson of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission, presents liturgy and music workshops throughout the Archdiocese and the Southwest region of the United States, and serves on the board of directors of the Southwest Liturgical Conference.

Las Posadas (the inns or lodgings) is a customary
Christmas novena, celebrated in many Latin
American countries and Hispanic communities in
the United States. Beginning on December 16th, nine
days before Christmas, Las Posadas is a journey of
faith and joy, shared by family, friends, and
neighbors.
Inspired by one phrase of a passage from the Gospel
of Luke (Luke 2:7), Las Posadas helps us identify
with Mary and Joseph in their pilgrimage on the
road to Bethlehem.
“Las Posadas” es el nombre con que se conoce la
celebración de la novena navideña, celebrada en
muchos países latinoamericanos y en las
comunidades hispanas de los Estados Unidos. Las
Posadas dan inicio el 16 de diciembre, nueve días
antes de la Natividad del Señor, y se caracterizan
por un caminar de fe y alegría compartido por
familiares, amigos y vecinos.
Un versículo del Evangelio de san Lucas (Lucas 2, 7)
ha inspirado la celebración de los nueve días de Las
Posadas, que nos ayuda a identificarnos con María

Pilgrimage for Vocations
Registration is open for the 2020 Archdiocese of Santa Fe Pil-grimages for Vocations! The theme for 2020 is “Hope & Heal-ing” ( Romans 12:12). The Mothers’ Day Pilgrimages will take place on May 10, 2020, and the June Pilgrimages from May 31- June 6, 2020. For the first time this year, online registration is available for the June walk only. Individuals registering online will pay the fee by credit card. The June walk is $50 and May walk is $30. You can register on-line or download registration forms for both pilgrimages at the website: <pilgirmagesforvocations.org>. The registration deadline for both May and June is December 12, 2019.
