Archery Day at the Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge The Ten-nessee National Wildlife Refuge will be holding an Archery Day on Saturday, September 16th from 10am to 3pm at the Refuge, which is located at 1371 Wildlife Drive in Springville. Archery has been a form of hunting for hundreds of years. Come out to the refuge to learn about this primitive skill that is easy to learn but hard to master.Several staff and volunteers will be here to educate and guide all participants in proper handling and use of equipment. Follow-ing the classroom program, there will be a field exercise where participants will be able to practice on a range, then they can try their hand on a 3-D course on the Discovery Nature Trail. All ages are encouraged to come and no prior experi-ence is necessary. The Refuge suggests that everyone wear good walking shoes and all participants must use the refuge’s equipment.
Learning Lourve Class The Learn-ing Lourve evening painting sessions with Instructor Dani Poe will be offered the third Wednesdays of each month, beginning on Wednesday, September 20th from 7pm to 9pm at Lee Academy. Other Learning Lourve classes will be held on the Wednesdays of October 18th, November 15h and December 20th from 7pm to 9pm. Are you curious about the history of your favorite paintings? Paint along with Poe as she guides you through the story of some of your favorite paint-ings and their creators. As you listen and ask questions about the art work, you will also create your own replica of that masterpiece.If your favorite Masterpiece isn’t scheduled yet, please send Lee

Chamber’s Farm Tour The Paris Henry County Chamber of Commerce will host their 4th Annual Farm Tour on Thursday October 5th. The tour is free to the public and tours of several area farms will take place that day. Sulphur Wells Church of Christ and First Baptist Church will provide transportation for the Farm Tour. The day begins at 7:30am with the Henry Farmer’s Coop provid-ing breakfast and coffee at their meeting room on Hwy. 69. A program provided by Jamey Tosh will be presented as well.The first stop of the Farm Tour is Don Jones’s tobacco farm. The Jones family farm encompasses over 1K acres around the Mill Creek area north of Puryear and they’ve farmed the land for 8 genera-tions. The Jones’ no till about 60 acres of tobacco, plus 200 acres of row crops and have 100 head of cattle. The next stop on the tour is Heritage Farms, which started in 1836 and it’s located in northern Henry County. Heritage Farms owns and operates a diversified farming operation which consists of corn, soybean, wheat, tobacco, and vegetables, as well as 150 head of Registered Polled Hereford Cat-tle. Heritage Farms is owned by Steve and Tina Paschall with help from chil-dren and seasonal employees.The third

Carroll County Humane Society Breakfast The Carroll County Humane Society is holding a breakfast on Satur-day, September 16th from 7am to 10am at the Carroll Bank Community Building in Huntingdon. The breakfast is all you can eat and adults eat for $8 and kids eat for $4. So on Saturday join the Carroll County Humane Society at their break-fast in Huntingdon.
Henry Pioneer Day The Henry Vol-unteer Fire Department will host Henry Pioneer Day coming up Saturday Sep-tember 16th with plenty of activities set for around the Civic Center. The parade begins at 10am, there will be concessions and games beginning at 10:30am and a fish dinner starts then as well. Other events include a cake walk and bingo. There will be demonstrations such as a fly in from Air Evac, and Paris Henry County Rescue Squad will do a car ex-traction demonstration. Music entertain-ment starts at 4pm Saturday afternoon and SWAG Wrestling starts at 7pm. Fireworks begin at 8pm and then SWAG
Wrestling will resume. There will also be a drawing for an AR-15 and tickets are $10 and can be purchased during the day at Pioneer Day.
Grove Students Selling ChocolatesGrove students will be selling the World’s Finest Chocolates in a fund-raiser which the biggest part of the money raised goes back to the kids for their senior year. The fundraiser runs from September 14th thru October 4th. The Grove Parent Action Committee, or GPAC, is heading up the fundraiser for the students. GPAC does several things throughout the year including providing meals for teachers during Parent Teacher conferences, provides treats to teachers throughout the year, recognizes the class graduates with a banner all students sign, and sponsors Grove events like Sav-A-Heart Day.
CCHS Pawsta Party The Carroll County Humane Society is holding a Pawsta Party on Saturday, September 16th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Carroll Bank, which is located at 19510 West Main Street in Huntingdon. On Sat-urday join the Carroll County Humane Society for a pawsta bar of spaghetti or fettuccine with options of red sauce or alfredo sauce along with your choice of veggie and meat options. Salad, bread, dessert and drinks are included. The cost of the Pawsta Party is $10 for adults and $5 for children. All of the proceeds will go to a matching spay and neuter grant for community owned dogs and cats. All proceeds will be matched $1 for $1 by the Tennessee Spay and Neuter Coalition up to $1,000.
