The initial name “Pedro” has originated as Pedro is situated in the foot of the highest mountain range in Sri
Lanka, Pidurutalagala. (The sinhala version for Pidurutalagala is dry grassy
rocky plains)
• Pedro one of the best estate of Sri Lanka
• Pedro is the 1st Centralized factory in Sri Lanka in 1890.
• Famously known as the Champagne of Ceylon Tea
Pedro EstateThe whole world loves lovers. Especially if
they leap off a precipice to a rocky death in the name of their love. As did a young
prince and the low cast girl, he loved when the soldiers of the King, tried to drag him
back to the palace by force. The two lovers embraced for one last time, held hands and jumped off the mountain of Pidurutalagala.
History does not record their names, but since that fateful escapade the waterfall
nearby, is called Lover's Leap. To this day, every drop of water that cascades down the sloping rocks to the pool below is an
eulogy to their undying Love.
Pedro EstateA brief walk from the water fall to
the tea factory on Pedro Estate introduces you to yet another kind of love. As strong and unrelenting as the love of the legendary Prince and his beloved this love appears
in the form of underlying passion to produce a brand of tea which too,
is called Lover's Leap.
This spirit of undying love and determination, passion for the
romance of great traditions still hover in the air, the soil and the
tender green leaves of tea on Pedro.

was one of the first tea estates that was planted in the 1870s.
Nuwara Eliya district has been the most famous and precious tea growing district of Sri Lanka.
Mahagastotte
