Loading recently selected projects from the menu

When you select a project from either the Recent Projects or Load Most Recent Project option, Runtime compares the deployment package manifest with the manifest in the local Extract directory. If the versions differ, or if one or both of the manifest files are missing, the deployment package is extracted again.

If not, the currently extracted version of the project is immediately loaded. If a new version of the product has been deployed, those changes will not take effect until the old project is manually unloaded and the new project is loaded.

Loading projects from the command line

Typically, you will start Runtime from the command line and include the name of the project you want your users to run as a parameter. This way, your Runtime users will have their solutions started automatically.

To do so enter, enclosed in quotation marks, the full path to the Runtime program executable file, followed by a space, the command Project= and finally, also in quotation marks, the full path to the project deployment file. Here is an example of the syntax:

“program executable path” Project=”data path”

For example, to load a project named CRM.openspan, you would enter the following on the command line:

“C:\{path}\OpenSpan.Runtime.exe” Project= “C:\OpenSpanDeploymentFiles\CRM.OpenSpan”

Diagnostics Configuration Display the Diagnostics Configuration window. This window contains the Diagnostics Settings, Log Categories, and Tracing Options tabs which let you specify the types of messages to generate and how these messages are published, such as whether the messages are saved to a file or displayed in the output window. Your choices are saved in the RuntimeConfig.xml file. For more information on diagnostics configuration, see the Help.

Test Connection Lets you test connections with the Deployment Portal.

Show Output Window Displays the Output window.

Expected Hours Display the Enter Expected Hours window. Workforce Intelligence associates use this window to enter the hours they expect to work.

Pega Robotic Automation Runtime 7.1 Installation Instructions 16

Running Pega Robotic Automation Runtime on Microsoft Windows 7When installing Runtime in the \Program Files folder on a machine where users do not have permissions to write to that folder, such as machines running Windows 7, you must change the default ConfigurationLocation value in the CommonConfig.xml file before launching Runtime.

1. In Windows Explorer, go to the C:\ProgramData\OpenSpan folder and copy the CommonConfig.xml file to a temporary location where you have write permissions, such as one that is not under the Program Files folder.

2. Open the copy of the CommonConfig.xml file in the temporary location in Notepad.

3. Locate the ConfigurationLocation key and enter this value:

“%LocalApplicationData%”

4. Save and close the file.

5. Move the version of the CommonConfig.xml file from the temporary location to the C:\ProgramData\OpenSpan folder, replacing the original file.

Note Adding this value appends \OpenSpan\7.1 to your local system environment variable %APPDATA% and all Runtime configuration and diagnostics files will be saved to the %AppData%\OpenSpan\7.1 folder. This change is not required if you installed Runtime to a location other than the \Program Files folder, and one to which users have write permissions.
