Winter This weeks joke is from Liueli Vahai Rm 5 Greetings Im looking forward to seeing all the sporty themed costumes at the disco this Friday. My thanks to the home and school for organising this event. Remember to get cheese roll orders back on time. Please set aside some time on Sunday 3 rd July to help make the cheese rolls. There is no expectation that people be there all day. Lots of volunteers for a shorter time and the work will be done. Your efforts are appreciated. POP treat The Pop treat will be in the last week of term for all those children who make great choices. At this stage this is everyone so keep encouraging your children to make good choices. PB4L (Positive behaviour for Learning) At the moment we are having a focus on using our words positively. This is having an amazing effect in the classroom and playground with many more children having smiles on their faces due to all the positive affirmations that are going on. Ask your children what it means to fill someones bucket”. Rippa Rugby Hopefully our rippa team playing in the regional finals will do well. I wish them all the best. If they win against teams from South and Mid Canterbury we get to the national finals in Wellington. Go Pembroke. REAL Family. My thanks go to two of our parents, Brooke Webb and Scott Hirst who on Sunday found a big mess outside one of our classrooms. They cleaned it up and then let me know what they had found. If you see or hear people acting inappropriately on school grounds please call the police. Unless at an official school function there should be no one on the school grounds between dusk and dawn. If you see people here after dark please tell them politely to move on or call the Police. Your support helps keep our school safe. Farewell For personal reasons Mrs Drew will be leaving us at the end of the term. We wish her the best. I will inform room four families about her replacement shortly. Changes to resourcing of Schools At the moment the Government is looking to change the way schools are resourced. They have given a very short timeframe within which feedback can be given. I have seen some of their ideas and they are very concerning. If you have the opportunity you may want to follow this up and give some feedback. Maybe ask our MP to explain it to you. Once again this Govt is failing to properly discuss and listen to the people who actually work in Education and better understand the needs of children. Positive The roll is at an all time high for this time of the year. We await with anticipation an announcement from the Govt. as to whether our school is on the list for a new classroom. Not sure why giving a classroom for roll growth should become a political announcement. The feeling around the school is really good at the moment with staff especially happy as they finish the work on your childrens reports. We look forward to getting your feedback on the new format. Survey. Please remember to send back the consultation survey. Only 17 so far. Have a good weekend. Go the All Blacks.
