My thanks to Aimee Gibson and Steff McGeown for organising and training the team. Their efforts are appreciated. Youth Town Holiday programme. Keep your eye out for the Youth Town holiday programme that runs at our school over the holidays. A great option if you require childcare. Daylight savings At times daylight savings can muck up sleep patterns. Please make sure your child is getting to bed at a good time. Adequate sleep sets them up for better learning. Duffy books Last week we had two visits—The Duffy book theatre and a visit from a Duffy books role model. The children enjoyed both. They should also have been given their first book selection to bring home and add to the family book library. Remember that it is reading that opens the mind to most information. Encourage and model reading as an important activity in the home. Our thanks to our sponsors for their support of our Duffy books in Home programme. A great day was had by all!!!

Adventure Plus ScoutsKeas - is for Years 1-3. As a Kea they will make new friends while being able to learn how to work in a team. There are a huge number of activities including walks, camps, learning to cook on hobo stoves, water slides, athletics and games. Cubs - is for Years 4-6. The Cub packs offer learning programs where they are encouraged to explore, experiment and develop independence. In cubs they go on camps, bushwalking, cooking, mudslides, derby car racing and helping out in the community. Scouts - is for Years 7-10. The Scouts offer action packed activities that encouraging them to make their decisions for themselves. The scouts go on outdoors activates like tramping, and rafting, or indoor activates like scout craft and pioneering. Venturers - is for Years 11-14. As a Venturer they will be able to make up their own programs, if it interests you go and do it with the Venturers. You can also meet new people and make lifelong friends and go on AMAZING trips. ADULTS - don’t let the kids have all the fun you can join as a leader and join in the fun with your kids and go on adventures with them. So come and join the best Scout Group in Oamaru, The Columba Scout Group at their Awamoa Park Scout Den. Look for the Adventure Plus sign Keas – Monday afternoon 4.30pm till 5.30pm. Cubs – Monday nights 6pm till 7.30pm. Scouts – Thursday nights 6.45pm till 8.45pm. Venturers – Wednesday nights 6.45pm till 8.45pm.
