Transcript

PEN’s two-day training workshop entitled “Promoting Primate Conservation in Colombia Through Training and Collaboration in Education” was held at the Botanical Garden in Bogota.

Diana Carolina Guzmán Caro, President of Asociación Primatologica Colombiana, assisted PEN in asking participants to write down and post their "burning question" prior to entering the workshop room.

PEN's Regional Coordinator for Brazil, Patricia Mie Matsuo, gave instructions on our icebreaker. She asked each participant to introduce him or herself and share a primate vocalization (preferably their favorite!).

Juan Pablo Parra shares a Caquetá titi vocalization and passes the cotton-top tamarin stuffed animal.

Johanna Vega, Fundación Proyecto Tití’s Head of Education, shared her experience and expertise in primate education in Colombia during our training workshop.

After receiving training on how to design and evaluate primate education programs, participants broke out into groups, and then presented on their programs.

Sara Elizabeth Bennett shares her personal case study challenge in primate conservation education.

After PEN distributed customized Educator Toolkits during our training workshop, Diana Carolina GuzmánCaro and Tamara Bonilla review their Marmoset and Tamarin Pocket Identification Guides.

Thank you, Spider Monkey Project, for donating Venezuelan monkey and bird educational posters to PEN's Educator Toolkits!

Our workshop facilitators, Xyomara Carretero-Pinzón, Patricia Mie Matsuo, and Johanna Vega review and discuss the participants’ challenges and needs.

Participants conceptualize and design network maps, a representation of their relationships in primate education.

Participants weaved a web during our closing circle to show how we are all connected.

PEN’s Executive Director and Regional Coordinators for Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil take a group photo with the Asociación Primatologica Colombiana’s President after she proudly received her certificate.

PEN's Executive Director and Regional Coordinators for Colombia, Venezuela, and Brazil took an excursion to San Martín to reflect on our training workshop, observe monkeys, and exchange regional experiences.
