www.gadsbyart.comI am largely a self- taught painter. Painting is something that I simply need to do. I find the work to be a great deal of fun when it takes over and a challenge to get to that place where it does take over. My paintings are usually started in acrylic because it dries quickly and I can get my vision down in a fast and loose manner. After that I will sometimes change to oil for the color and transparency, or add ink pastel, pencil or papers. I tend to work fast, and then set a canvas aside, and start another. Sometimes a work will sit for a week or a month until I see where I need to go, other times it is there on the canvas in one sitting. I am predominately interested in contrast of color, visual texture and organic against inorganic objects. My sources of inspiration come from, animals, people, places or gestures that I photograph. I was an art major at the University of New Mexico. I studied color and design at Roudolph Schaeffer in San Francisco. I have taught both fine art painting and Faux painting.I have shown in group and one man shows in San Francisco and in Palo Alto and Menlo Park and Gilroy, CA.I have had my work in Galleries for a number of years in those cities. Bank of American, Genetech, and Visa as well as private parties have purchased my work.
