Our 50th Anniversary
On June 2, the Upper Bucks Branch of the Bucks County Association for Re-
tired and Senior Citizens was organized as a center for senior citizens to so-
cialize. Located in a room in the Herstine Building in Perkasie, the site was
dedicated on September 19, 1964 with local and county dignitaries in attend-
ance. The organization offered classes in millinery, ceramics, and oil painting
to its 200 members.
Within a year the organization, which was knows as the Upper Bucks Activity
Center, needed additional space. The Center was relocated in the former
Hubbert Baseball Factory on Chestnut Street. The building was officially pur-
chased on June 6, 1968. As the organization grew, it became necessary to
renovate the building to accommodate increased membership and programs.
The building was renovated in 1977.
By 1984 it was apparent that the building was inadequate for handicapped
members. The Center needed better facilities. In 1988 permission was grant-
ed to begin a fundraising campaign. After nearly 20 years of fundraising activi-
ties, contributions from local organizations and the municipalities of the Penn-
ridge School District, foundation grants, and memorial donations, the new
Pennridge Community Senior Center became a reality in 2002. In 2012 the
name of the facility was changed to the Pennridge Community Center.
This year we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of your Center! We have a
committee in place, that is planning a few events for our celebration. These
events will be open to the public and will most likely take place in Spring and
Summer. For the details of our celebration, check our website
( www.pennridgecenter.org ) and watch for fliers in the lobby for details of this
Celebration.

ey trip that they sponsor. We will deposit 10 seats at a
time for a trip. Please book as soon as possible if you
are interested, because they can recall our seats if need-
ed. As soon as we receive 10 full payments, we will
advise them, although we don’t need 10 for the trip to be
a go. On the Hagey trips, departure will be at Hagey
Tours in Franconia.
CASINO TRIPS WILL RESUME IN APRIL!!
The Casino Trips are resuming on April 29. The trip goes to the Showboat Casino in Atlantic City. We
need 30 people to make this trip go. If we don’t have 30 people, the trip will be canceled, and most likely we

PCC Computer Classes
For Beginners
We don’t understand computers, we’re afraid of them
and we don’t think we can learn how to use them or
know why we would want or need to. We think only
young people or “smart” people can learn to use them.
We’re afraid we’re going to break them. We don’t even
know how to turn them on. Talking with someone about
them is like trying to speak a foreign language.
Come to our computer classes, designed specifically for
YOU! Dale was a teacher (Central Bucks) for over 25
years, and spent ten years as a technology trainer.
Classes are low-key, no pressure, and fun! Wednesdays
and Fridays from 10:00 – 11:30 and Tuesday evenings
from 7:00 – 8:00. Day classes are for members and the
evening class is open to the public, so invite your
“beginner” friends. Day classes are $4 each and the
evening class is $30 per month. No start or end date-
come when you can and stop coming when you need to.
No preset agenda; we tailor classes to the needs, inter-
ests and ability levels of the “students”. Private lessons
may also be available - see Dale if you have any ques-
tions.
Billiards
Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm Members - $2 Non-Members - $3
Computer Class - Beginners
Tuesdays - 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm Instructor - Dale Roades $30 / month
Model Builders Class
We all need to learn new things and develop new inter-
ests. A small group of pioneers joined Dale Roades
last year to build a variety of heirloom-quality musical
instruments from kits. The results were so amazing that
new members joined the group and the variety of kits
available was expanded to prompt a change in the
name of the activity from MusicMakers to ModelBuild-
ers. You can now choose to build a clock, bird house or
bird feeder, dollhouse, weather instrument, historic
model or toy, in addition to a variety of musical instru-
ments. Other projects are available for the adventurous
to complete independently at home. Build your heir-
loom project for yourself or as a gift.
Plan to attend the Lunch & Learn presentation by Dale
on Thursday, March 20 at 12:30. Invite a friend or
neighbor to join you. If you would like to join us for
lunch, please sign up the previous week so we can
place the order. Projects will be on display, and you
can place your order by the end of the month; join the
activity group on Friday afternoons once your project
arrives. If you have any questions, please see Dale.

The Pennridge Community Center
was founded in 1964 as the Upper
Bucks Branch of the Bucks County
Association of Retired and Senior
Citizens. The mission of the original
Center was to provide a facility for

Over the years, the mission has
changed to provide for the needs of
the senior citizens of the 21st century.
The mission has expanded to provide
relevant information, services, and
activities necessary to assure aging
with health, independence, and
dignity.
The Pennridge Community Center is one of the four full- service senior citizen centers operated by the BUCKS COUNTY ASSO-CIATION FOR RETIRED AND SENIOR CITIZENS (BCARSC), a non-profit corporation. The BCARSC is funded through the PA Department of Aging and through self-supporting projects. BCARSC is an equal opportunity employer.
All programs and services provided at the four Centers are of-fered without regard to race, religion, political affiliation, or per-sonal background.
The Pennridge Community Center serves all citizens ages 55 and older who reside in the boroughs of Dublin, Perkasie, Sellersville, Silverdale, and Telford and the townships of Bedmin-ster, East Rockhill, Hilltown, and West Rockhill.
The Pennridge Community Center is partially funded through the Bucks County Area Agency on Aging, the Pennsylvania Depart-ment on Aging, the Federal Food program, and self-supported projects.
All operational expenses are the responsibility of the Center. The Executive Board, Advisory Board, Center Manager, and Assis-tant Manager are responsible to pursue all possible sources to generate income.

As you know, we have many rentals at the Center throughout
the year. If fact, last year we had 48 rentals, ranging from par-
ties to receptions to dances. We anticipate more for
this year, now that we have become even more well known.
For those who may not know, we rent the Legacy Room and
the conference room.
These rentals bring income to the Center, which in turn help
fund many things, including classes and activities, AND they
help keep our Center open and running.
If you know of any potential renters, please direct them our
way. We appreciate your efforts in helping the Center!

Last Minute Items
If you’re a Veteran, an informal roundtable discussion
group will take place on the 3rd Friday of each month,
starting March 21 at noon. Come out and have a great
lunch will talking about your experiences in the service.
The Sellersville American Legion and the Sellersville
V.F.W. are being notified that this will be starting, in
hopes that a few Veterans from these groups might join
in the discussion.
Related to this is the sale of patio bricks. The price is
$50 per brick. We are hoping to receive orders from
those who served in the various branches of the Armed
Services., and eventually have a separate section to
honor those Veterans and the branches of the Armed
Services. To date the U.S. Marines and the U.S. Army
are represented with bricks. If you were in another
branch of the Armed Services, please try to buy a brick
for the patio. All proceeds go to the General Fund of the
Center.
