to hear from Independence Townshiptrustee candidates when the Leagueof Women Voters (LWV) hosts adebate.
According to Judy Bateman of theLWV, each candidate will give a one-minute opening and closing statement,and they will have one minute torespond to questions from theaudience and from Mary Keck, staffreporter for The Clarkston News.The LWVs Mary Howarth willmoderate the debate.
The LWV is a non-partisan, non-profit organization, run by volunteers,said Bateman. Members of the LWVhope to educate on issues wevestudied and come to a consensus on,she said.
The LWV has recently studiedredistricting and prisons; the resultsof their studies are used to educatethe legislature, said Bateman.
