Reverend Sinisa Ubiparipovic was ordained a priest on Saturday, May 23, 2015.

Next Sunday, May 31, Father Sinisa will return to Saint Agnes Church to celebrate the 9:00 A.M. Mass.

Father Graham’s 25th Anniversary

On Sunday, June 14, I will celebrate the 25th anniversary of my Ordination to the

Priesthood. Please join me at a Mass of Thanksgiving, followed by a reception at

Saint Agnes School Hall.

Adult Education for the New Evangelization continues this Spring, with the next evening seminar this Wednesday, May 27 at 7:00 PM! This Spring and Summer we will continue Father Robert Barron's Catholicism series, using his study course specifically on the New Evangelization and the call of the Church in the modern world. This topic will consist of six meetings, on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM in the Parish Center , finishing in July. You need not come to every meeting to reap the benefits of fruitful discussion and friendly faces. Join us when you can! Light discussion and refreshments will follow the 90 minute program. Saint Agnes Month’s Mind Bereavement Mass As an expression of sympathy, every month,

Saint Agnes Parish celebrates a Month’s Mind Mass to remember the parishioners whose Funeral Masses were celebrated during the previous month.

Today as we celebrate Pentecost the Holy Spirit wants to make us advocates of God’s presence to bring new life to others, especially those who do not know the love of God in their lives. Your gift in the Saint Vincent de Paul Poor Box will help the poor to believe in the mystery of God’s love for them.

Parish Coffee and Donuts : At the conclusion of the 9:00 Mass, hosted by the Saint Agnes Parish Evangelization Committee. Please join us in the Arlington Catholic High School cafeteria for fun and fellowship with other parishioners! We need Parish families to help us

continue with this great ministry. If you wish to help set-up/take-down the coffee hour, contact Marianne Hudelson: [email protected]. We need donations of coffee and paper goods, or gift cards to Dunkin’ Donuts or Stop and Shop. Thank you!

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Registration for this Religious Education program began on May 18 and will close on Friday, June 5. The program serves children ages 3 to 5 years and children age 6 years, if they will not be entering 1st Grade. A limited number of seats will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, determined by the date the registration form is received.

Registration forms are available at the Parish Center or by calling 781-646-5579 and should be returned to the Religious Education Office. For information call Jean Keiselbach at 781-646-0475.

Confirmation Registrations for the Fall have been mailed and are due back on June 15. Confirmation is a two-year program beginning in Grade Nine. For more information please contact Nancy Feeman: 781-641-6621 or [email protected].

Confirmation Retreat Registrations have been mailed for the September 26/27 retreats at Saint Camillus Parish. Please return them by June 15.

Make up Classes for Grade 10 will be held in the Saint Agnes Parish Center this Thursday, May 28, 6:00-7:00 PM.

Boston Sock Exchange - On the second Saturday of each month, the Boston Sock Exchange ministry serves our homeless brothers and sisters on Boston Common. Please bring men’s and women’s

Spring and Summer clothing donations to the bin at the back of the church or to the Parish Center. We are especially in need of new socks and cases of bottled water . Join us in the Parish Center on Friday, June 12, at 7:00 PM to prepare sandwiches and to help organize donations. We are in need of volunteers to help with distribution on Saturday, June 13, at 11:00 AM on Boston Common. Please note that children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Saint Agnes School News

Ascension Thursday Mass

Episcopal Vicar, Father Gerard Petringa, celebrated Mass with the Saint Agnes School Community on Ascension Thursday. Father Flatley and Father Graham concelebrated. Grade 8 coordinated the Liturgy, assisted by middle school students. Thanks to teachers who prepared the students, especially Grade 8 teachers Mrs. Ciarlone and Mrs. Gould, and music teacher, Mr. Baglio.

K1 students visited the Arlington Police Department . Officer Mike Hogan gave the students a

tour of the facilities, showed them squad cars and motorcycles, explained how the 911 dispatch works and introduced them to his canine buddy, Dasty. As a final treat the students were taught the fine art of traffic control as Officer Mike demonstrated how to direct traffic at the light in front of the School! Thank you to the Arlington Police and especially to Officer Hogan for being such good friends to Saint Agnes School.

Thank You – To all who attended, donated, helped and supported Fidelity House’s Annual Fundraiser last Saturday. Special thanks to the Friends of Fidelity House committee that included Father Flatley, Frank

Electronic Recycling Fundraiser - Saturday, June 6 from 9am - 1pm in Saint Agnes Grammar School parking lot. Televisions, monitors, printers, laptops, computers, refrigerators and more can be dropped off. There will be a modest fee for some items. Visit our website for more information.

Summer Day Camps – Summer Day Camps for children in Kindergarten and 1st grade begins June 29. Fidelity House's 60th year of Summer Camp for grades 2-8 starts June 29. Camps include swimming lessons, free swim time, trips, sports, arts and crafts, special events and more.

Preschool Summer Program – Begins June 8. 10 one week sessions are being offered. Hours are 8:30-12:30 weekdays. Children may register for the week or for individual days. Arts and crafts, music, story time and many other activities will be featured.

Summer Fun – In addition to the programs listed Fidelity House will be offering Basketball Camps and leagues, Gymnastics and Full Day Programs throughout the summer.

Prayer Line - If you are in need of prayers, call the healing and restoration prayer line at 617-442-3938 (located at Mission Church, 1545 Tremont Street, Boston). Healing service is the last Sunday of the month at 2:00 PM.

The Parishioners for Life will be sponsoring a Rose Drive to benefit Massachusetts Citizens for Life after all Masses the weekend of June 6 and 7. If you would like to help distribute the roses and collect donations after any of the Masses, please e-mail [email protected]. Children with their parents are welcome to help! Parishioners for Life meets on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Parish Center. Everyone is welcome!

Vacation Bible School: Saint Agnes Outreach - Due to a lack of enough volunteers Saint Agnes will not be able to host a Vacation Bible School again this summer. However, we will host a day of children’s Bible activities and crafts from 3-6:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, culminating in an Ice Cream Social for the Parish at 6:00 PM, following the Saturday evening

Masses. All events will be held in Saint Agnes School Hall and on the lawn outside Saint Agnes School. We would especially like to thank and extend this invitation in a special way to all of the dedicated parishioners who have volunteered in the past year in order to make education and social outreach ministries work. Third Annual Saint Agnes Parish Campout - Do you need time set apart with your family this summer? Do you have a passion for the outdoors? Come and enjoy the friendship and company of our Parish family at the Third Annual Saint Agnes Parish Campout. The dates for the campout are Friday-Sunday, July 10-12 in Greenfield, NH. Details about how to sign up, what is expected for each camper, or how to join as a “day-camper only” on Saturday, July 11, are detailed on the Parish Outreach blog.

People living with depression : Next meeting of the depression peer support and prayer group, this Thursday , May 28, Saint Agnes Parish Center, 6:30-8:00 PM. We listen, share, learn, pray and provide spiritual support to each other in our journeys through depression. If you are struggling with depression, please come to share your story in a faith-based, confidential and safe environment. Keefe Funeral Home Bereavement Support Group - Keefe Funeral Homes will offer a six-week Bereavement Support Group starting on Sunday, June 7 10:30-11:30 AM at their Funeral Home at 5 Chestnut Street, Arlington. This group has an open enrollment. The main goal of these meetings is to break the isolation that grief imposes on all of us. Different topics will be discussed such as manifestations of grief, family dynamics, finding support, re-evaluating values and commemoration. Maura Lavalle, who recently lost her husband, will discuss how she is coping. Christy Kiernan, a member of the Keefe family and a social worker will work closely with Maura to ensure that participants have a chance to speak and ensure each participant’s privacy is protected. Sacrament of Baptism Baptisms are held on the first and third Sunday of the month at 2:00 P.M. You must attend Baptismal Briefings prior to having your child baptized.

Sacrament of Marriage Archdiocesan guidelines require that couples planning to marry in the Church make an appointment to see one of the priests as far in advance as possible prior to the wedding date.
