prayer of approach L: Come Holy Spirit, take us by the hand, P: guide us into truth. Make sense out of our lives. L: Teach us, persuade us, encourage us, P: to walk in Your way. L: Unite our hearts to live in Your light and love.

~ Silent Prayer

words of assurance L: Hear now this great good news: Jesus sent us the promised Holy Spirit, P: our Advocate, our Helper, Christ’s indwelling presence. L: Now we are united with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit P: and with each other. L: The indwelling Holy Spirit of Christ is our strength and our unity. ALL: Praise be to God! Amen!

L: And now, Almighty God, we pray you to send your Holy Spirit, that the bread which we break may be to us communion in the body of Christ; and the cup of blessing which we bless, communion in the blood of Christ; that being built up in love we may be strengthened in the unity of the faith and come to the fullness of the stature of Christ.

ALL: And here, O Lord, in union with our Lord Christ, who gave himself for us and the world, and in fellowship with the whole church in heaven and on earth, we offer you ourselves to be a living sacrifice, praying you to accept us with this our worship of praise and thanksgiving. This we ask trusting in the eternal sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Lord, by whom and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honour and glory be unto you, O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen.

the lord’s prayer

L: And now as our Saviour has taught us, we pray:

ALL: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for Thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

prayer (unison) For the bread we have eaten, for the wine we have tasted, for the life we have received, we thank you our God. Grant that what we have done and been given here may so put its mark upon us that it may remain always in our hearts, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

the great thanksgiving (please sit) L: The Lord be with you, P: and also with you. L: Lift up your hearts. P: We lift them up to the Lord. L: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. P: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

L: All glory and thanksgiving be to you, Almighty God, for creating the heavens and the earth and all that is in them; for making us in your own image, and for watching mercifully over all you have made.

P: Glory be to you, O Lord.

L: All glory and thanksgiving be to you, our heavenly Father, for redeeming us in Jesus Christ your only Son, who took our nature upon him and in obedience accepted death, even death on a cross; who by your power was raised from the dead and was exalted for evermore.

P: Glory be to you, O Lord.

L: Therefore with all creation and with all the company of the redeemed we magnify your glorious name, evermore praising you, and singing, ALL: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might; holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might. Heav’n and earth are full, full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest, hosanna in the highest . page 942 VU (Sanctus – Communion Setting E )

L: Eternal God, King of heaven and earth; the life and death of your Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. we proclaim; his resurrection from the dead and his ascension, we confess; his coming in triumph, we await.

P: Even so, come Lord Jesus.

L: Wherefore, O Father, we set forth before you this holy supper, following his command, who the night in which he was betrayed took bread and blessed and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, Take, eat, this is my body; who in the same way took the cup saying, This is my blood of the new covenant.

P: Worthy is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain, to receive all power and wealth, wisdom and might, honour and glory and praise.
