PAP-MPC BRIEF HISTORYPeople’s Alliance for Progress Multi-Purpose Cooperative originated from the collaboration of the natives from Sitio Satan and the neighbouring Barangays.
The founders sought the need to establish an institutional framework for a “single voice”to represent the members in dealing with other sectors of society, including the government and its various agencies and instrumentalities as well as business sectors and NGO’s be it local, national and international.
With a capital outlay of 163,000 Php, the members then identified their needs according to priority. First, they worked on the establishment of a water system thru the spirit of “bayanihan”. They succeeded without assistance from any government agency. Since then, they realized the value of cooperation and that if they were united under “One Goal, One Vision”, it is not impossible to achieve their dreams. Next they put up a cooperative store and a day care center with the assistance of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. In strengthening the livelihood of the members, cassava and vegetable were planted in commercial quantity and market linkages were also established.

Since then, Peoples Alliance for Progress Multi-Purpose Cooperative has earned the attention of key NGO’s particularly MAP- ABCDF, all line agencies in the province of Sulu , the Provincial Cooperative Office, Sulu Provincial Cooperative Union, the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Trade and Industry, Sulu Area Coordinating Center, National Agribusiness Corporation and Philippine Post Harvest Mechanization.

MISSION
To establish a private-public cooperation at community level, develop farmer and fishermen agriculture entrepreneurship, assist them in market linkages both local and national, promote the use of organic and technology driven agriculture and fishing practices with due concern to ecology and environment.
