to today's generation.

We seek your input for corrections and additions.

Original sources may be fuzzy and fire-damaged,but, after all, they are a half-century old.

PACIFIC HIGH SCHOOLPEP ASSEMBLIES

The day of every major football game was a special event at Pacific High in San Bernardino.

On those eventful game days, Pacific scheduling was altered for a very special reason(drum roll --- TA DA!) -- the PEP RALLIES!

In order to fit the complete student body into a location large enough for these motivationalgame-day rallies, it was necessary to split the total attendance into three separate seatings inthe .

The . was a building designed to serve as combination andconnected to the school kitchen where meals were prepared to be served on tables that liftedout of the walls of the room or retracted, with folding chairs set facing set facing a curtainedstage set into the north wall, to become an auditorium for performances, dramas, concertsand other events.

All the classes that day were shortened, with a long enough space allotted to one of theperiods for three groupings of students to alternate attendance in one of the assembliesin assigned order.

Programming included funny sketches and skits, movie clips (on flickering 16mm projectors),music by singers or orchestra, vocal ensembles or a stage band. Back in those days a "band"was not a group of guitars on stage, but instruments such an an orchestra, but lacking strings, such as violins - that was the definition of a band.

Comedy routines such as the following script, featuring Paul Kealy as a TV announcer witha hat and raincoat in the style of commentator John Cameron Swayzee, were written bystudents and staged to build school spirit and encourage students to attend the home game atthe Orange Show Stadium that night.

The homecoming game featured a special parade down E Street where the various campusclubs all created floats decorated with paper napkins stuffed into chicken wire frames andfestooned with crepe paper, one with the Homecoming Queen and her court waving.

Musicians played and cheerleaders marched to the the people cheering as they entered thegates at the National Orange Show Stadium where Pirate home games played, alternatingweekends with San Bernardino High School.

School Spirit was a real big part of Pacific Pirates campus life. The following script highlighted various CAMPUS CLUBS.I narrated it to tie together the action on stage as the clubs were represented.
