Driver Information Center

Your vehicle’s Driver Information Center(DIC) provides vehicle information, vehi-cle feature customization, and vehiclewarning messages. The DIC messageswill be shown on the instrument panelcluster display.The DIC controls are located on theright side of the instrument panel cluster.They include:

Trip/Fuel:Press this button todisplay the follow-ing trip and fuelinformation:• Odometer• Trip Odometer• Fuel Range• Average

(Lock): Press this button to lock allthe doors. RKE feedback (light flashand/or horn chirp) can be programmedusing the DIC.

(Unlock):Press this but-ton to unlockthe driver’sdoor. Press itagain withinfive secondsto unlock allremainingdoors. RKE feedback (light flash) can beprogrammed using the DIC.

(Vehicle Locator/Panic Alarm):Press this button to locate your vehicle.The turn signal lamps will flash and thehorn will sound three times. Press and hold the button to activate thepanic alarm. The turn signal lamps willflash and the horn will sound for 30 sec-onds. Press the button again or turn theignition to Run to cancel the alarm.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

6. Press the button to scroll to thenext feature.

7. To exit the Feature Settings menu,press the button until EXITFEATURE SETTINGS is displayedand then press the button; orpress the button or the button.

Warnings and MessagesThe DIC provides a variety of vehiclewarning messages (depending onoptional equipment) if a problem issensed in a vehicle system. To acknowl-edge a message and clear it from thedisplay, press the (Set/Reset) but-ton. Some urgent messages cannot becleared from the DIC display. If you have a current OnStar subscrip-tion, and a warning message appears,you can press the OnStar button andspeak to an OnStar Advisor. In manyvehicles, OnStar Advisors can accesscertain diagnostic information and cantell you how serious the problem is andwhat you should do about it.

Remote Keyless Entry

The Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) trans-mitter includes the following functions:

(Remote Vehicle Start): This featurecan be used to start the engine fromoutside the vehicle. (See RemoteVehicle Start.)

Note: Your vehicle’s warnings andmessages provide critical informationthat can prevent damage to your vehicle.Review your Owner Manual to becomefamiliar with the information displayedand the action required.

Content Theft-Deterrent System

To arm the content theft-deterrentalarm system, lock the doors using theRemote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmit-ter. The (Security) light on theinstrument panel cluster will illuminatefor approximately 30 seconds to indicatethe system is arming. To disarm thesystem, unlock the doors using the RKEtransmitter. The alarm will not be armed or disarmedif the doors are locked or unlocked witha key or the manual door lock.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Power Seat Controls

The following power seat controls arelocated on the outboard side of thedriver and front passenger seats:Power Seat: Use the horizontal control(A) to move the seat forward/rearwardand up/down as well as to raise/lowerthe front or rear of the seat cushion.Power Recline: Use the vertical control(B) to recline/raise the seatback.Power Lumbar: Use the control pad (C)to increase/decrease lumbar support andto raise/lower the position of the support.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Memory Settings

Memory settings can be programmed forthe position of the driver’s seat and out-side mirrors for two drivers. The memorybuttons are located on the driver’s door.To save memory settings:1. Adjust the driver’s seat and outside

mirrors to the desired position.2. Press and hold button 1 or 2 until two

beeps sound.3. Repeat these steps for a second

driver using the other memory button.To recall the settings, press memorybutton 1 or 2 with the vehicle in Park.The memory settings also can beprogrammed with the DIC to be recalled

Continue to press the desired button tocycle through the temperature settingsof High (three indicator lights), Medium(two indicator lights), Low (one indicatorlight) and Off (all indicator lights are off). Heated seat operation is canceled eachtime the ignition is turned off.2nd-Row Heated SeatsPress the (Heated Seat) button,located on the rear control panel on theback of the center console, to turn oneach heated rear seat and cycle throughthe temperature settings.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual

automatically when using the RemoteKeyless Entry transmitter.Easy Exit SeatWith the vehicle in Park, press the (Easy Exit Seat) button to recall the exitposition for the driver’s seat. The easyexit seat setting also can be pro-grammed in the DIC to be recalledwhen removing the key from the ignition.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

Automatic Climate Controls

The automatic climate control systemmaintains the desired individual temper-ature for the driver and front seat pas-senger. The system adjusts the airflowmode, fan speed, air conditioning andrecirculation functions to reach the settemperature(s) as quickly as possible.Automatic OperationTo set the automatic mode:1. Press the AUTO button.2. Set the driver’s and front passenger’s

temperature using the + or – temper-ature buttons.

Manual OperationTo operate the system manually, use thefollowing controls:

(On/Off): Press this button to turn thesystem on or off.

(Fan): Press the up or down arrowto increase or decrease fan speed.

2nd-Row Bucket Seats (if equipped)

To recline the 2nd-row bucket seats,lift the lever on the outboard side ofthe seat and move the seatback to thedesired position; then release the lever.See Section 1 of your Owner Manual.

(Airflow Mode): Press the up ordown arrow to change the direction ofthe airflow and to select the defogmode.+ – (Temperature Control): Press thedriver and passenger + or – temperaturebuttons to raise or lower the temperaturesetting(s). PASS (Passenger TemperatureControl): Press this button to turn offthe passenger temperature setting.

(Air Conditioning): Press thisbutton to turn the air conditioning systemon or off.

(Recirculation): Press this buttonto circulate inside air through the vehi-cle. This mode keeps outside air fromentering the vehicle.AUX or REAR (Rear Climate Control)(if equipped): Press this button to turnthe rear climate control system on or off.

(Defrost): Press this button todirect most of the air to the windshieldand some air to the side window outlets.

(Rear Window Defogger): Pressthis button to activate the rear windowdefogger and the heated outsiderearview mirrors (if equipped). Thedefogger and heated mirrors will turnoff automatically or can be turned off bypressing the button again.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Rear Seat Climate Controls (SUV only)

Rear seat occupants can operate therear seat climate control system usingthe controls located on the back of thecenter console. To turn the rear systemon or off from the front seat, press the

Audio System Features (Non-Navigation Radios only)

While most of the features on your radiowill look familiar, some of the followingmay be new:

(Power/Volume): Press this knob toturn the system on or off. Turn the knobto adjust the volume.

(Information): Press this button todisplay additional text information relat-ed to the current FM-RDS or XM station,or MP3 song.

(Tune): Turn this knob to select radiostations or, when a CD is playing, toselect a track or MP3 file.

ENTERTAINMENT

AUX or REAR button on the front controlpanel. The settings in the rear will be thesame as in the front until they arechanged by rear occupants using thefollowing rear controls:

(Fan): Press the up/down button toadjust fan speed. Press the buttonrepeatedly to turn off the system.

(Mode): Press this button to adjustthe direction of the airflow between thefloor and headliner outlets.+ – (Temperature Control): Press the+ or – button to adjust the temperaturesetting from 0 (cooler) to 12 (warmer).See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Press the knob to adjust the tone(bass/treble) or speakers (balance/fade).BAND: Press this button to switch toAM, FM, or XM (if equipped). With a CDor DVD (if equipped) playing, press thisbutton to switch to the radio.CD/AUX or DVD/CD/AUX (if equipped):With the radio playing, press this buttonto switch to a CD, DVD (if equipped),or an auxiliary input device such as aportable audio player. FAV (Favorite): Press this button togo through up to six pages of presetfavorite radio stations. Select a presetstation using the buttons below the radiodisplay.EQ (Equalization): Press this button toselect preset equalization settings.CAT (Category): Press this button tofind XM stations (if equipped) within adesired category.Auxiliary Input Jack: A portable audioplayer (such as an iPod® or MP3 player)can be connected to the auxiliary inputjack located on the radio. Press the AUXbutton to begin playing audio from theplayer over the vehicle speakers. Tooptimize speaker volume, fully increasethe volume on the portable audio player.Radio Data SystemWhen you tune to a Radio Data System(RDS) station, the station name and callletters will appear on the display insteadof the frequency. RDS stations may alsoprovide the time of day, a program typefor current programming and the nameof the program being broadcast.RDS features are available for use onlyon FM stations that broadcast RDSinformation. RDS relies on receivingspecific information from these stationsand will work only when the informationis available.

Setting the TimeTo set the time:1. Turn on the radio.2. Press the (Clock) button. Or,

if equipped, press the MENU buttonuntil the clock option is displayed;and then press the pushbutton locat-ed under the clock option label. TheHR, MIN, MM, DD, YYYY labels willappear on the display.

3. Press the pushbutton under any ofthe labels to be changed.

4. Press the pushbutton again, the rightSEEK arrow or the FWD button toincrease the numbers. Press the leftSEEK arrow or the REV button todecrease the numbers. Rotating the

(Tune) knob also will increase ordecrease the selected label.

5. Press the Clock or MENU buttonagain to set the currently displayedtime and date.

Setting Favorite StationsBefore setting your favorite stations,park the vehicle.

Note: Searching for audio stations orsongs — or giving extended attention toentertainment tasks — while driving canlead you to look away from the road forprolonged periods, which may cause youto miss seeing things on the road thatyou need to see. Always keep your eyeson the road and your mind on the driveand avoid engaging in extended search-ing for specific items while driving.

• To play a CD, press the pushbuttonbelow the arrow label on the displayto select the desired CD number.

• To eject the CD that is currentlyplaying, press the EJECT buttononce. To eject all CDs, press andhold the EJECT button for twoseconds.

If a CD is not removed after severalseconds, it will be pulled back into theplayer automatically.

Playing MP3 FilesYour audio system has the capabilityof playing a CD-R or CD-RW disc con-taining MP3 audio files. When playing,an MP3 label will be displayed.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

You can set up to six pages of favoriteradio stations. Each page can containany combination of up to six AM, FM,or XM (if equipped) stations.

To set the number of favorite stationpages:1. Press the MENU button to display the

radio setup menu.2. Press the pushbutton below the FAV

1–6 label on the radio display.3. Select the desired number of favorite

station pages.4. Press the FAV button. You may now

begin storing your favorite stations forthe chosen number of pages.

To store favorite stations:1. Press the BAND button to select AM,

FM, or XM (if equipped).2. Tune in the desired radio station.3. Press the FAV button to display the

page where the station is to bestored.

4. Press and hold one of the six push-buttons until a beep sounds.

5. Repeat the steps for each pushbuttonon each page.

Multiple-Disc CD Player• To load a single CD, press and

release the LOAD button. Toload multiple CDs, press and hold theLOAD button for two seconds.Follow the display prompts to loadeach CD.

Note: CDs with any affixed labels mayjam in the CD player. Label a CD using apermanent marker. If more than one CDis inserted into the slot at a time, or ifscratched or damaged CDs are played,the CD player could be damaged. Whenusing the CD player, use only CDs ingood condition without labels; load oneCD at a time; and keep the CD playerand the loading slot free of foreignmaterials, liquids or debris.

XM® Radio

XM radio offers more than 170 channelsof digital-quality sound that goes wherev-er you go — coast to coast — and real-time XM NavTraffic on the navigationsystem (if equipped) of many vehicles.After a free three-month trial period,activation and service subscription feesapply. Service is based in the continentalU.S. and Canada. For more information,visit XM online at www.XMradio.com orcall 1-800-929-2100.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Touch Screen NavigationEntertainment System (if equipped)

The Navigation Entertainment Systemprovides detailed maps of all majorhighways and roads throughout thecontinental United States. The systemprovides turn-by-turn driving instructionsfor each destination you enter and canhelp you locate a variety of points ofinterest, such as banks, airports andrestaurants. The system also offers avariety of enhanced audio features.Refer to your Navigation EntertainmentSystem Owner Manual for operatinginstructions.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Audio Steering Wheel Controls

The following audio controls are locatedon the steering wheel:

+ – (Volume): Push up on the + or – button to increase or decrease thevolume.

(Next/Previous/End): Press theup or down arrow to go to the

next or previous radio station stored asa favorite or, when a CD or DVD(if equipped) is playing, to the nextor previous track or chapter. Press the

(End) button to end or reject anOnStar or Bluetooth call.

Bluetooth® System

The in-vehicle Bluetooth system allowsusers with a Bluetooth-enabled cellphone to make and receive hands-freephone calls using the vehicle’s audiosystem, microphone and controls. TheBluetooth-enabled cell phone must bepaired with the in-vehicle Bluetooth sys-tem before it can be used in the vehicle.Not all phones will support all functions. DVD Rear Seat EntertainmentThe Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE)system includes a DVD player as part ofthe front radio, a flip-down video screen,audio/video jacks, two wireless head-phones, and a remote control.To play a DVD video:1. Turn the ignition to the Accessory or

Run position.2. Push the release button on the DVD

display console and pull down thevideo screen.

3. Insert a DVD into the DVD slot in theradio. It will turn on the video screenand begin playing automatically. Itmay be necessary to press the Playpushbutton on the radio or the remotecontrol to start playing the video if theDVD stops at a menu screen.

Note: Aim the remote control at the videoscreen, not the DVD player, for properoperation.

Remote Vehicle Start

This feature allows you to start theengine from outside the vehicle by usingthe Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) trans-mitter. The remote start capability mustbe turned on using the DIC.During a remote start, the climatecontrol system will automatically heat orcool the vehicle interior based on out-side temperatures.

The Automatic Headlamp System turnson the Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs)during the day and the headlamps andother exterior lamps at night or whennecessary.A light sensor on top of the instrumentpanel is used to determine light condi-tions. For proper system operation,avoid placing any objects on or nearthe sensor.Exterior Lamp Controls

The exterior lamp control knob on theleft side of the instrument panel can berotated to the following positions:

(Off/On): Turn the knob to thisposition to turn off the AutomaticHeadlamp System and DRLs. Turn it tothis position again to turn them on.AUTO (Automatic): Turn the knob tothis position to turn on the AutomaticHeadlamp System and DRLs.

(Parking Lamps): Turn the knob tothis position to turn on the parking lampsand taillamps.

(Headlamps): Turn the knob to thisposition to turn on the headlamps andother exterior lamps.

Starting the VehicleTo remote-start the vehicle:1. Aim the RKE transmitter at the vehicle

(transmitter range is within approxi-mately 200 feet of the vehicle).

2. Press and release the (Lock)button on the transmitter.

3. Immediately press and hold the (Remote Vehicle Start) button forabout four seconds. When the vehiclestarts, the parking lamps will lightand remain on while the engine isrunning. The engine will continuerunning for 10 minutes.

4. Repeat these steps for a 10-minutetime extension. Only two consecutiveremote starts are allowed.

When you enter the vehicle after aremote start, the key must be insertedin the ignition and turned to the Onposition before driving.

Canceling a Remote Start To turn off the engine instead of drivingafter a remote start:• Press and hold the button until the

parking lamps turn off.• Press the Hazard Warning Flashers

button inside the vehicle. Press thebutton again to turn off the flashers.

• Turn the key in the ignition switch onand then off.

See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Note: The Remote Vehicle Start featurewill not operate if the key is in the ignition,the hood is open, or the Check Enginelight is illuminated. Using Remote VehicleStart idles the engine, impacting the fueleconomy reading on the DIC.

Wipers and Washers

The following windshield wiper controlsare located on the multifunction lever onthe left side of the steering column:

(Mist): Rotate the band down tothis position to turn the wipers on forone wipe.

(Off): Rotate the band to this positionto turn off the wipers.

(Delay): Rotate the band up to oneof these settings for a delay between

wipes. The wipers activate more oftenas the band is rotated upward.

(Low): Rotate the band up to thisposition for steady, low-speed wipes.

(High): Rotate the band up to thisposition for rapid, high-speed wipes.

(Washer): Push the paddle ontop of the multifunction lever to spraywasher fluid on the windshield.Heated WindshieldWasher Fluid (if equipped)Press the (HeatedWasher Fluid) buttonon the left side of theinstrument panelto spray heated washer fluid on thewindshield. This will help to clear ice,tree sap or bugs from the windshield. Itmay take up to 40 seconds to heat thewasher fluid, after which the wipers willautomatically turn on for four heatedwash cycles. Press the button again tocancel any remaining cycles.Rear Wiper and Washer (SUV only)The following rear wiper and washercontrols are located on the left side ofthe instrument panel:

(Rear Wiper): Press this button toturn the rear wiper on or off.

(Rear Washer): Press this button towash and wipe the rear window.

(Delay): Press this button to turn ondelayed wiping.See Section 3 of your Owner Manual.

Cruise Control

The followingcruise control but-tons are located onthe steering wheel:

(On/Off): Pressthis button to turnthe cruise controlsystem on or off.

Interior Lamp ControlsThe following interior lamp controls areon the left side of the instrument panel:

(Dome Off): Press in this button tohave the dome lamps remain off

when a door is open.(Instrument Panel Brightness):

When the cruisecontrol speed is set, the cruise controllight will illuminate on the instrumentpanel cluster.+ RES (Resume): Press this button toresume a set speed, or to increase thespeed if the system is active.

Global Power Windows

The global power windows featureenables all side windows and the Midgate window (if equipped) to beopened or closed at the same time.The (Global Power Windows)button is located on the left side ofthe instrument panel to the left of theexterior lamp control knob.Press the bottom of the button toautomatically lower all side windows andthe Midgate window. To lower all windows using the RemoteKeyless Entry transmitter, press andhold the Unlock button until the windowsbegin to lower.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

Lowering the Midgate™

(SUT only)

The Midgate enables the vehicle’s cargoarea to be extended into the cab. To lower the Midgate:1. Lower the Midgate window by

pressing the Midgate window buttonlocated on the left side of the instru-ment panel.

2. Fold the rear seat cushions forward;then fold the seatbacks flat.

3. Press either one of the two powerrelease buttons (A) located on theMidgate.

4. Lower the Midgate and flip over theauxiliary panel on top of the Midgate.

Reverse these steps to raise theMidgate. The Midgate must be fullylatched before the window can beraised.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

6-Speed Automatic Transmission Controls

The 6-speed automatic transmissionhas a Driver Shift Control feature thatenables the driver to select the rangeof gears desired for the current drivingconditions, such as when driving ondownhill grades.To use this feature, move the shift leverto the Manual (M) Mode position — thiswill force a downshift from the currentgear state (for gears 3–6). Press the

/ button on the left side of thesteering wheel to select a higher orlower driving range.The transmission will be limited to thegear selected and lower gears. Shiftingwill occur normally while driving; how-ever, the instrument panel cluster willdisplay only the maximum gear avail-able. Higher gears will not be availableunless the selection is changed toinclude higher gears using the button.

When slowing down, the transmissionwill automatically downshift. Whenaccelerating, thetransmission willautomaticallyupshift untilit reachesthe maximumavailable geardisplayed.If current vehiclespeed is too highor low for therequested gear,the shift will not occur until the properconditions are met.See Section 2 of your Owner Manual.

StabiliTrak® – Stability ControlSystem

StabiliTrak is anadvanced com-puter-controlledvehicle stabilityand tractionenhancementsystem thatassists withdirectional con-trol of the vehiclein difficult driving conditions. It turns onautomatically every time your vehicleis started.To limit wheelspin and help maintaindirectional control, you should alwaysleave the system on. However, if yourvehicle becomes stuck and rocking thevehicle is required, the system shouldbe turned off.To turn off the traction control part ofthe system, press the (StabiliTrak)

button located on the center of theinstrument panel. To turn off both the traction control andstability enhancement systems, pressand hold the button for five seconds.Both systems are disabled when thetransfer case is in the Four-Wheel-LowLock mode. When either system is off,the StabiliTrak light will illuminate.See Section 4 of your Owner Manual.

Tire Pressure Monitor

The Tire Pressure Monitor alerts youwhen a significant reduction in pressureoccurs in one or more of your vehicle’stires by illuminating the (Low TirePressure) warning light on the instru-ment panel cluster. The low tire pressurewarning light will remain on until youcorrect the tire pressure. A CHECK TIREPRESSURE message may also appearon the Driver Information Center (DIC).Correcting the Tire PressureWhen the low tire pressure warning lightilluminates, you must inflate the tire tothe proper tire pressure (just as youmust refuel the vehicle when the lowfuel warning light illuminates). The Tireand Loading Information label shows thecorrect tire pressure for the tires whenthey’re cold. “Cold” means your vehiclehas been sitting for at least three hoursor driven no more than one mile.You can temporarily clear the DICmessage by acknowledging it withyour DIC controls. However, at the nextvehicle start-up, the DIC message willreappear if the tire pressure has notbeen corrected.

During cooler conditions, the low tirepressure warning light may appear whenthe vehicle is first started and then turnoff as you start to drive. This could bean early indicator that your tire pres-sures are getting low and the tires needto be inflated to the proper pressure.

Note: The Tire Pressure Monitor can alertyou about low tire pressure, but it doesn’treplace normal monthly tire maintenance.

Four-Wheel Drive, Suspensionand Towing Controls

Four-WheelDrive ModesThe transfercase knob,located onthe centerof the instru-ment panel,allows youto shift intoand out ofthe following four-wheel drive modes:4� (Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive):Used for on-road driving and light off-road driving. When shifting, the vehicleshould be traveling less than 40 mph.4� (Four-Wheel-High Lock): Usedfor most off-road situations. When shift-ing, the vehicle should be traveling lessthan 40 mph.4� (Four-Wheel-Low Lock): Usedfor extreme off-road conditions. Whenshifting, the vehicle should be travelingless than 3 mph with the transmission inNeutral.

The indicator lights on the control knobshow the selected mode of the transfercase. Refer to Section 2 of your OwnerManual for shifting instructions.Locking RearAxleThe locking rearaxle providesadditional rear-wheel tractionwhen drivingin off-roadconditions suchas mud, snow,sand, steephills and uneventerrain. To lock the rear axle:1. Place the transfer case in the Four-

Wheel-Low Lock mode.2. Stop the vehicle and then press the

(Locking Rear Axle) button (A) onthe center of the instrument panel.Wait for the indicator light to stopflashing and remain illuminated.

The locking rear axle will automaticallydisengage above 20 mph.Tow/Haul ModeThe Tow/Haul mode is useful whentowing or hauling a heavy load. Itreduces the frequency of transmissionshifts or automatically downshifts toutilize engine braking to improve thecontrol of vehicle speed. Press the (Tow/Haul Mode) button(B) located on the center of the instru-ment panel to turn the Tow/Haul modeon or off.Selectable Extended Rear Ride Height(if equipped)This feature is part of the optionalelectronically controlled air suspension

The selectable rear ride heightallows you to raise the rear of the vehi-cle approximately 2 inches (5 cm) overthe normal ride height for additionalrunning ground clearance.To raise the ride height, press the (Height Control) button (C) located onthe center of the instrument panel. Theindicator light will flash as the vehiclerises and stay on when the vehicle is atthe extended height.To use this feature, the engine must berunning, all the doors must be fullyclosed, and vehicle speed must be lessthan 40 mph (64 km/h).See Sections 2 and 4 of your Owner Manual.

Off-Road Driving Basics

Off-road driving can be great fun, butit does have its hazards. The greatesthazard can be the terrain itself. Off-roaddriving involves some special skills, soit’s important to review the off-road driv-ing information in your Owner Manualbefore you go off-roading.Loading Your VehicleWhen loading your vehicle for off-roaddriving, the heaviest things should be onthe load floor and forward of your rearaxle. Put heavier items as forward asyou can, but do not place them in thefront seat area. Be sure the load issecured properly to prevent items frombeing tossed during off-road driving.

Note: Heavy loads on the roof raise thevehicle’s center of gravity, making it morelikely to roll over.

Resetting the Engine Oil LifeSystem

The Oil Life System calculates engine oillife based on vehicle use and displaysCHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON on theDriver Information Center (DIC) when it’snecessary to change your oil and filter.The Oil Life System should be reset to100% only following an oil change.To reset the Oil Life System:1. Turn on the ignition.2. Press the (Vehicle Information)

button until the DIC displays OIL LIFEREMAINING.

3. Press and hold the (Set/Reset)button until 100% is displayed.
