New Product: New SideWinder Anti-Cavitation Trim for Low Flow Applications

Cavitation is common in many liquid control valve applications. In particular, high pressure drop, small flow applications within the Oil & Gas, Chemical, Power and Aerospace industries experience destructive cavitation. Cavitation control is highly valued by customers and is an important factor that influences procurement decisions for control valve equipment. The SideWinder severe cavitation elimination technology simultaneously uses all six proven anti-cavitation pressure drop mechanisms including; small passages, turns, mutual impingement, sudden expansion and contraction to absorb and control pressure drop energy, neutralizing the root cause of cavitation. The new trim is fully integrated in the latest release of Performance!Nxt, allowing users to size and select a configuration that ensures effective cavitation elimination in high pressure, low flow applications. A new cavitation prediction logic developed specifically for the SideWinder trim allows fast and accurate sizing and selection of the SideWinder trim for Mark One Series Globe and Angle body styles. Performance!Nxt is programed to automatically select the most suitable SideWinder trim solution for a given application. It works with application data and calculation method as entered by the user and automatically generates the best configuration for the application. This not only allows users to provide technically competitive solutions but also offers greater reliability and performance to customers. New Product: Inclusion of LPC pneumatic compact scotch yoke (for TMCBV, TX3, Valdisk and for External Sizing) With the scope to continue growing Control Valves and Automation businesses, a new P!Nxt development has been recently completed, complementing past release 12.7151 dated October 2016 and 12.7160 dated December 2016.

In 12.7170 Release LPC Actuators automatic selection is enabled for TMCBV, TX3 and Valdisk and for all other ON/OFF Flowserve Valves (or Third Party valves) using a Template Excel file for importing into P!NXT the valve torques. With this new release 12.7170 it will be possible to automatic select LPC compact pneumatic scotch-yoke actuators in addition to the previously added LPS actuators. Until now, only LPS actuators could be selected in P!NXT from Limitorque Fluid Power Range. With this new release, LPC Pneumatic Compact Scotch Yoke actuators will be now automatically sized in P!Nxt, offering a more compact solution for small valve sizes. The User will be allowed to automatically select the proper LPC actuator model, considering the actual valve process and shutdown conditions and proper actuator sizing parameter (e.g. Safety Factors, Supply Pressure, ...). P!Nxt users are still allowed to manually select different actuator models, using the Actuator Size and Spring Size Override option available inside the User Interface (UI) screen. LPC accessories and additional options can be also selected inside the Specification Screen.

Performance! Release

Pricing is currently set to CF; it should be enabled shortly by means of a P!Nxt Database update, along with an additional note to the distribution list. Stroking Time calculation is currently not available for LPC actuators and it will be part of future developments. User Instructions and Sizing Procedure for LPC actuators Detailed Users Instructions have been created as separate document and are here embedded inside the following pdf file:

7. When the actuator sizing and selection is done, you can print the spec sheet by

using the Print option. The actuator selections made will be populated in the actuator section of the spec sheet.

Basics of Scotch Yoke actuators sizing Due to the scotch-yoke mechanism, LFPS quarter-turn actuators (LPS, LPC and LHS models) have a particular U-shaped output torque curve whether powered by a fixed supply pressure or the spring. For a proper actuator model selection, the safety factors between actuator output torque and valve torque requirement shall be calculated at least in six points along the valve stroke. In addition a final check is necessary to guarantee that actuator Maximum Output Torque does not exceed valve Maximum Allowable Stem Torque (MAST).
