PERFORMView SoftwareAutomated rig-state detectionThe at-a-glance job status schematic displays the rig state and well curtain section with information such as casing, bit depth, and actual versus planned well trajectory. The schematic is continuously updated based on a powerful rig-state detection algorithm. The algorithm automatically derives the rig state as the drilling process progresses.

This automatically computed rig-state information complements the log entries made by the rig crew to provide rig activity information more frequently. The data can then be used to benchmark and analyze rig and drilling performance, identify anomalies, and highlight areas for improvement.

Key performance indicatorsPERFORMView software allows computation of customized KPIs as a function of any real-time measurement or static parameter. Consistency and data availability are automatically checked.

Capture and import drilling risks and eventsDuring the drilling process, PERFORMView software captures significant drilling events, indexed in both time and depth. These events can be identified as drilling hazards. In subsequent wells, the correlated hazards can be imported and plotted with real-time measurements to identify areas of similar risk before they are drilled.

AlarmsPERFORMView software includes alarms that can be set to a range of existing or user-defined drilling parameters, alerting drilling surveillance engineers to changes in performance or highlighting measurements approaching predefined limits. Alarms can also be set based on risks and events identified in earlier drilling operations.

Drilling data analysisPostjob analysis of drilling data is a critical step in anticipating, identifying, and resolving underperformance problems in future drilling operations. Data analysis in real time greatly simplifies postjob analysis. Risks identified and lessons learned are readily captured and shared with the team for future use. PERFORMView software also ensures consistency across the organization.

Crossplots packageData import using PERFORMView software is easy and charts are automatically updated as new drilling data points are received. A variety of standard crossplots are available, such as 2D and 3D color-coded, which operate in both time and depth. The crossplot functionality allows filtering data by rig states, which results in clear plots and evident correlation between measurements—an important aspect of drilling optimization. The results can then be used to target areas for improvement, both well-to-well and rig-to-rig.

Performance analysisPreconfigured charts provide compelling KPIs to evaluate and analyze operation performance. For example, the rig activity breakdown chart shows the amount of time spent in each rig state over a period of time defined by the user, while the time-verses-depth crossplot colored by rig state provides effective tracking of job progress in the context of rig activity.

Collaboration toolsA culture of collaboration and effective communication between operation centers and the rigs they support is important. Responsibilities and processes must be defined and complementary, rather than overlapping. Designed with this in mind, PERFORMView software complements rig operations when used by a drilling surveillance engineer, enabling the sharing of information on which recommendations are based. Using this tool, all members of a team—regardless of location—can take ownership of decisions based on common understanding.

Instant communicationBuilt-in communication features include chat and annotation sharing. In addition, a whiteboard allows quick capture of drilling surveillance screens as a live screenshot seen by all users. Users can then annotate, write comments, or draw on the shared screenshot in real time to visually clarify issues, decisions, or concerns. All results can be captured and archived by the drilling surveillance engineer for use in future operations.
