Over the last 40 years, SNF has developed expertise in polymer chemistries designed for specific markets. In Personal Care, SNF offers a wide range of polymers as rheology modifiers, thickeners, and film formers to cover the needs of this market.
SNF makes the best use of the newest polymerization technologies for synthesizing and manufacturing anionic, cationic, amphoteric, and nonionic polymers. This know-how in monomers, polymer design, and industrial process applications allows SNF to react and innovate according to changing trends and customer needs within the cosmetic market.
RHEOLOGY MODIFIERSDISPERSED POLYMER
SNF expertise in monomers allows for an unlimited number of polymers to be developed. Each monomer contributes unique properties and sensorial benefits.
The monomers are polymerized while being dispersed within a carrier oil. This resulting product is referred to as an LDP, or Liquid Dispersion Polymer.
CONTINUOUS CARRIER PHASE
Specific grades of emollients are used as primary hydrophobic solvents (carriers) in our LDPs. Each type of oil used delivers a different sensory profile to any final formulation.
Other carrier oils are available as needed or upon request.
INVERTING AGENT
Oil-in-water emulsifier (surfactant) allows liquid dispersions to invert in aqueous systems. This enables water to be absorbed by polymer particles via osmosis, thus allowing polymer chains to swell and increase the viscosity of the resulting solution.

FLOCARE™ ET and FLOCARE™ PSDInverse emulsion polymers that provide textures by increasing aqueous phase viscosity
FLOCARE™ ET and FLOCARE™ PSD series polymers are Liquid Dispersion Polymers (LDPs) produced by inverse emulsion polymerization. With this process, it is possible to achieve very high molecular weight, crosslinked polymers with optimized rheological properties. SNF offers a wide range of products from low to highly concentrated thickeners.
SNF also offers rheology modifiers in powder form, such as FLOCARE™ PSD 30.
