Personal Development Plan (PDP) Outline

Purpose: To take the client from knowledge to implementation in a way that will significantly improve communications by building relationships while improving results in every area of their life. Allows for “The Law of Process” to work continuous change in the client’s life over a sustained period of time. Change happens daily, not in a day! Consists of:

• 3-5 areas of growth focus from the Maxwell DISC Personality Indicator Report • 3 actions for each area that can be worked on daily, weekly, and monthly • Accountability to those action steps

Time Frame: Approximately a 3-month process that can be updated based on individual growth.

How to Guide the Client Through the Process Maxwell Method of DISC Personality Indicator Report Debrief Session

• Take the client through MDPI Report in a Debrief Session (See Debrief Guide) o Important: ask specific questions, not all the questions, on the guide

Application Guide Page 23

• Review with the client. • Ask them to fill out this page over the next week, with special focus on question 6.

(“What are 3 keys things I can do to grow myself based on the insights from this report?) • Explain that they can select 3-5 areas of growth. List them; then be thinking into what

action steps they can take in each of those areas.

Page 27

• How I Respond Under Pressure o Ask 2 or 3 trusted people in their life to respond to this page based on their

perceptions of your client. Page 28

• How I Tend to See Myself o This is a self-evaluation exercise of how they see themselves.

Page 29

• Action Plan o Ask your client to have 2 or 3 trusted people in their life answer the Y/N

questions for them on page 29 and bring it to the next session. The PDP is the foundation for beginnings of coaching

Begin Coaching Sessions Session 1

• Review client’s 3-5 growth focus areas. • Review the results from the Y/N questions that they had others fill out. • Review and discuss the action steps that they have identified for each area. • Discuss how and to whom they will be accountable for their action steps.

Coach to any areas that may be needed:

• Are they challenging themselves in their selected growth areas? • Did they miss anything that may be critical to growth? • What results will they see in their life 3/6 months down the road to know

that this has been a success for them? • Consider the coaching script: “The History of Your Future”. • Use other coaching resources (Example: “Wheel of Life”).

• Use page 29 of the MDPI to fill in growth areas and action steps for follow up. • Follow up, Follow Up, Follow up

Session 2 Any additional sessions moving forward …

• Use the TGOROW Coaching Methodology o T = Topic: What do you want to discuss? o G = Goal: What do you want? o O = Outcome: What do you want to achieve in this session? o R = Reality: What is happening now? o O = Options: What could you do? o W = Way Forward: What will you do?

• Any and all additional coaching sessions should be to fulfill the agreed on plan from the PDP.
