He was an American Electrical Engineer Born in Brooklyn, New York on the 23rd

December, 1938. Received a BEE(Bachelors of Electrical

Engineering) from City College of New York Earned an M.A and PhD Degrees from

Princeton University in 1962 and 1964 respectively.

Early Life of Bob Kahn

After finishing graduate school, he worked at AT & T Bell Laboratories

Later on became professor at Massachussets Institute Of Technology

Worked at Bolt, Beranek and Newman (BBN), where he helped the IMP

Contribution to Computer Science

In 1972, he began writing at the Information Processing Techniques Office(IPTO) within ARPA

In fall 1972 he demonstrated the ARPANET by connecting 20 different Computers at the International Computer Communication Conference

He came up with initial ideas for what later became the Transmission Control Protocol

More Contributions

He was joined by Vint Cerf joined him on the project in the spring of 1973.

Together they completed an early version of the TCP

In 1992 he cofounded with Vint Cerf the internet Society to provide leadership in internet related standards, education and policy

He attended Van Nuys High School Obtained a B.S in Mathematics from

Stanford University Attended graduate school at UCLA and got

an M.S and PhD in 1970 and 1972 respectively

Contributions To Computer Science

Contributed to the 'host to host protocol' to for the ARPAnet

While at UCLA he met Robert Bob Kahn who was working on the ARPANet Hardware architecture

Co-designed the DoD TCP/IP protocol suite with kahn

Moved to DARPA, stayed from 1976-1982
