Australian Opal Series– The Kangaroo2013 1oz Silver Proof Coin

This wonderfully crafted coin is the third release in the popular Australian Opalseries. Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality,the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian .

The reverse design incorporates an iconic kangaroo detailed in pure Australianopal. The outer panel of the coin depicts Sturts Desert Pea leaves andblossoms, a first crescent moon and the Southern Cross star constellation.

Packaged in an illustrated shipper and presented in adisplay case, which features a light that turns onas you open the lid to represent the moonshining on the nocturnal creature, the coinis complemented by a numberedCertificate of Authenticity.

The Perth Mint will release no more than8,000 of these Opal Kangaroo coins.

On 18 June 1987, the Australian Government approved the minting ofplatinum and silver coins by The Perth Mint. In September the followingyear, the nation's first platinum Koala coin was released alongside acommemorative medallion.

To celebrate this remarkable event, this special issue features a replicatedreverse design of the original coin. Struck by The Perth Mint from 1/2ozof 99.95% pure platinum, this coin is issued as Australian legal tenderand includes a unique 'P25' mintmark to signify the anniversary.

To authenticate the coin, each release is accompanied by a silvermedallion which features The Perth Mint's iconic swan logo, a special'PK25' mintmark, and the individual set number on the reverse. Eachmedallion's obverse bears the inscriptions AUSTRALIAN KOALA 25ANNIVERSARY 2013 PROOF ISSUE and MAXIMUM MINTAGE 1,200.

The coin and medallion are housed in a prestigiouswooden presentation case within a customisedshipper. The Perth Mint will release no more than1,200 of these tribute sets.
