We visited two Roman settlements: Italica (located in Seville) and Emerita Augusta (Which is called Mérida today)

• We visited the Temple of Diana.

• Many soldiers and gladiators visited this temple to pray and to be lucky in combats.

• A great Roman gate, part of a wall around Mérida city.

• Soldiers crossed it to enter the city.

Patrician were the upper class. They were rich people.

They lived in villas (very big houses)with a garden in the centre.

Plebeian were the lower class. They were very poor people.

The word “mosaic” came from Greek language and it means “muse”

Romans put mosaics in different places , for example on the floor and on the walls of the houses

Nowadays you can find Roman mosaics in the Roman city of Itálica (in Seville)
