GABIONS AND RIVER OR RENO MATTRESSESGabions are wire mesh boxes, containers or baskets filled withrock to prevent soil erosion and to retain/contain soil particles.
Gabions and geotextiles are normally used together to reduce water velocities
and re-capture river bed sediment in streams. Flat Gabions, called River or
Reno Mattresses are widely used in river courses where soil erosion is a
problem over a large flat or sloped area needing protection against soil loss
or scour. They are used mostly in the civil engineering industry especially in
the construction of roadway drainage structures, however recently due to
their environmental benefits are being used in many various applications and
industries.
We manufacture Class A Galvanised or with an additional PVC coating,
hexagonal type woven wire mesh gabion materials. The woven mesh has a
high tensile strength at the same time having a high compressive strength when filled with suitable un-weathered rock.
Our materials are quality assured, supplied together with the SANS 1580 mark and are used in a very wide range
of applications.

Hexagonal wovenmesh is the perfect product for rockfall nettingand to cover large areas of river mattresses quickly.
The mesh is of high strength and made of durable material. Two options are
available, either Class A Galvanised or with PVC coating. The mesh size is
80×100 mm hexagonal mesh type with 2.7mm mesh wire and 3.4mm diameter
salvage wire along the mesh roll edging. We normally also provide the 2.2mm
binding wire for lacing rolls together along the common edge. These mesh rolls
have a high tensile strength and can also be provided with steel dowels as
required for anchorage into slopes.
Top rockfalls securely and efficiently with mesh rolls and also use mesh rolls
to cover large areas of mattresses, often mattress lids get in the way during
installations, we recommend leaving them out of the way.
Roll sizes available – 2metres wide x 50m long (100m2) or 2 x 100m
Square weldmesh is available in rolls of 2.1x30m – with mesh aperture of
50x50mm and wire diameter of 3.00mm, Class A Galvanised only
