Contributing to the growth of industries through accumulatedtechnologies and high-quality productsWe have accumulated technologies in this sector since 1933, when we began the first commercial production in Japan

of alumina with our own technology. We are supplying graphite electrodes, ceramics and fine carbon products to meetsophisticated requirements from various industries.

●In the carbons business, we are producing graphite electrodes for electric arc furnaces(EAF)at our plants in Omachi, Japan, and SouthCarolina, U.S.A. Our high-quality graphite electrodes are well received by EAF customers around the world. We are alsoproviding carbon raiser for cast iron production.

●In the ceramics business, we provide aluminum hydroxide and alumina for use in chemicals, refractories, ceramics, paper, plastics andelectronics. We are also supplying various abrasives, specialty refractories, polishing slurries for semiconductors and glass-based HDmedia, and high-purity titanium oxide. These products are made using our accumulated technologies of fusion, baking, ultra high-pressure synthesis, gas-phase synthesis, crushing, and precision classification.

●We provide carbon nanofibers VGCF TM and components for fuel cells while developing various carbon products for use in batteries, electronics, and new energy-related materials.

Inorganics Sector

Inorganics SectorGraphite electrodes are used in electricarc furnaces that melt scrap iron forrecycling.

HigiliteTM aluminum hydroxide is used, for example, as rawmaterial for artificial marble. Alumina also has wideapplications, including components of exhaust gas purifiers.

Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) slurries that enable processing ofsemiconductors at nanometer-level line widths.

High-purity titanium oxide SuperTitaniaTM is used in ceramic capacitorscontained in many electronic devices.

Showa Denko pioneered in the commercialization ofVGCF TM carbon nanofibers. New resin compositeapplications are being developed.

SBN-K TIP TM sintered boron nitride compacts areused in tools for cutting automotive parts.
