    POWERGRID is committed to the goal ofsustainable development and conservation ofnature & natural resources and strictly follows

    the basic principles of Avoidance, Minimization

    and Mitigation in dealing with Environmental and

    Social issues. Where necessary, restoration &

    enhancement is also undertaken. Developed Environment & Social Policy

    and Procedures (ESPP) through a broad

    consultation with stakeholders to pre-empt

    all possible Environmental and Social issues.

    An independent committee oversees ESPP

    implementation at project level. The effective

    implementation of ESPP has resulted in the

    reduction of Forest involvement from 6% in

    1998 to 1.35% in 2009.
