Highlights ~ HKU is ranked No.4 in Asia and No.27 worldwide in the QS World University Ranking 2016-17. ~ In the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2016, HKU Statistics ranks No.1 in Hong Kong, No.3 in Asia and No.23 worldwide overall. ~ According to U.S. News & World Report 2014, HKU Mathematics and Statistics rank the 9th in the "Best Global Universities Rank- ings for Mathematics". ~ HKU is ranked No. 1 in Asia and No. 10 worldwide in North American Actuarial Journal (2013 Vol. 17, 3-12), in terms of publication pages in the actuarial journals. ~ Established in 1967, the Department has currently 17 professoriate staff and over 40 Ph.D. and M.Phil. students. Fellowships and Scholarships Available The following fellowships/scholarships are available for applicants with out- standing academic performance, research ability or potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities: Hong Kong PhD Fellowships (HKPF): offered by the Research Grants Council for HK$240,000 per year (www.rgc.edu.hk/hkphd for details) University Postgraduate Fellowships (UPF): offered by HKU for HK$205,900 per year (in 2016). Postgraduate Scholarships (PGS): ooffered by HKU for HK$188,400 per year (in 2016).
