MINUTES OF NQPA INC COMMITTEE MEETING held 6th DECEMBER 2017
Meeting commenced at 3pm Please note: All members welcome to attend. Present: Sharon Jewell, Wendy Bainbridge, Louise Watson, Margaret Crawford and Edward O’Brien. Apologies: Catherine Ogden and Rosemary Schmidt. Sharon Jewell moved that the minutes of the previous meeting be taken as read, seconded by Louise Watson. Carried. Correspondence: Inwards: Nadia Hilton, information on ceramic tours, Shannon Garson tour to Tasmania in March 2018, China & Japan Tour, Morton Bay Ceramic Event. Clay Shed invoice $1972.30, NRG $259.00 Journals: Australian Ceramic Journal 156:3, Ceramics Technical/Ceramic Arts Perspective, 106, October, 2017. The Clay Shed wished us all a Merry Christmas. Wendy moved that correspondence be accepted, seconded by Sharon Jewell, Carried. Treasurer’s Report: Accounts as at 30th November, 2017. Business Everyday A/c Balance $7721.66 Business Saver A/c – interest $11.95, Balance $8972.60. Card Balance $420.30 Monthly income $2098.95 Less expenses $1256.67, Net profit $842.28. Agreement reached to no longer use the Green Ledger for recording of invoices. Margaret contacted Regional Gas inquiring about fees on gas bottle hire, the problem to be rectified by them, and a sign to be placed on empty gas bottles for refilling. Treasurer moved that the balances be accepted, seconded Edward O’Brien, Carried. Clay Report: Louise did a stocktake of clay and balanced as at the end of November, 2017. New clay order has been placed and will be delivered within the next few weeks. Studio/Classes/Kiln Report: Comments on the cleanliness of studio after the clean-up. Classes finishing 20/12/2017, recommencing 17/1/2018. General Business: Greg Daly workshop dates confirmed 28/7/2018 – 29/7/2018. Other workshop at the Pinnacles Gallery, date decided 25&26/8/2018 or 1 &2/9/2018. Mother’s Day Open Day 6/5/2018. Committee members available over the holiday period, Wendy Bainbridge, Margaret Crawford, Louise Watson. Meeting closed at 5pm. NEXT MEETING TO BE HELD ON 21ST FEBRUARY, 2018 AT 3PM. 2018 biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards The 2018 biennial North Queensland Ceramic Awards are going ahead and will be exhibited at Pinnacles Gallery 27 July to 16 September 2018. The first ad will be in the next issue of JAC. Once again the major TCC acquisitive award will be $10,000 with 4 other smaller awards. Entries will close Friday 30 March 2018 - so a heads up to start working on an entry now. Greg Daly is the confirmed judge and he will be running a workshop on Sat 28 July and Sun 29 July 2018 at NQPA. We’re interested in any ideas you may have of topics you might like him to cover – let us know please. A couple of ideas at the moment are 1 day glaze on glaze, application, brushwork and 1 day on lustre and techniques. ………………………………………………………………………………….…………..………………………

NQPA Tuesday Social Pottery Group The Tuesday group, with Nic and friends, welcomes all to share. This is an informal group which meets from 10am to 1pm every Tuesday at the NQPA studio. There is only the $6 charge for
members to use the premises and we all help each other. No tutors, but everyone helps everyone and it is just a time to come along and enjoy yourself.
