Description: The objectives of this program include providing interns with knowledge and experience centering around multidisciplinary health care and policy driven pharmacy practice. These objectives are met through experiences in both administrative and clinical settings. Interns are responsible for remaining current with developments in the profession, learning medication use policy, and participate in distributive functions. Additionally, all interns are offered the opportunity to shadow a pharmacist practicing in an area of their interest.

Mayo Clinic

Location: Rochester, Minnesota

Duration: 10 weeks

Description: This program offers experience in either the hospital/inpatient setting or the clinic/outpatient setting. Inpatient experiences include compounding IVs, shadowing a pharmacist, and preparing a presentation on a topic related to inpatient pharmacy practice. Outpatient experiences include patient counseling, reviewing doctor’s orders, entering orders, providing drug information, training in compounding department and preparing a presentation on a topic related to outpatient pharmacy.

Description: This program offers inpatient, outpatient and oncology experiences. The inpatient setting provides experiences in aseptic technique, drug distribution, patient assessment, project management, and writing newsletters among other hospital activities. The outpatient experience is held in a hospital setting where the intern will experience pharmacy practice in an anticoagulation clinic, integrative medicine clinic, and in the area of home infusion.

Program Description: Goal is to provide student pharmacists with the

experience of the practice of pharmacy at a

managed care organization.

To spend a week with the Pfizer Medical

Outcomes Specialist and be involved in the

administration of a pharmacy benefit.

Program Description: Student pharmacists will be assigned their project

topic at each intern site by the preceptor.
