Duration: 8 weeks

Description: The objectives of this program include providing interns with knowledge and experience centering around multidisciplinary health care and policy driven pharmacy practice. These objectives are met through experiences in both administrative and clinical settings. Interns are responsible for remaining current with developments in the profession, learning medication use policy, and participate in distributive functions. Additionally, all interns are offered the opportunity to shadow a pharmacist practicing in an area of their interest.

Description: This program offers experience in either the hospital/inpatient setting or the clinic/outpatient setting. Inpatient experiences include compounding IVs, shadowing a pharmacist, and preparing a presentation on a topic related to inpatient pharmacy practice. Outpatient experiences include patient counseling, reviewing doctor’s orders, entering orders, providing drug information, training in compounding department and preparing a presentation on a topic related to outpatient pharmacy.

The outpatient experience is held in a hospital setting where the intern will experience pharmacy practice in an anticoagulation clinic, integrative medicine clinic, and in the area of home infusion.
