Mike West Featured in July Issue of 501 Life

Recently retired research associate Mike West, and his extensive Star Trek collection are fea-

tured in the July issue of the 501 Life publication. Mike has been a fan of the series since he

Alexei Basnakian and Steve Post Receive Mentor Award

Professor Alexei Basnakian and secondary faculty, profes-

sor Steven Post, were awarded the Mentor Award and

named Silver Mentors by the UAMS Research Academy.

They were recognized for their mentoring efforts that

helped assistant professor Nirmala Parajuli receive a New

Investigator R01 from the NIH in April.

Shuk-Mei Ho, vice chancellor of the Division of Research

and Innovation, created the Research Academy in collabo-

ration with the Translational Research Institute to en-

hance the UAMS research community and enable transformative medical breakthroughs to

elevate research excellence and success across campus. This goal aligns with the mission of

UAMS Vision 2029 to make Arkansas the healthiest state in the region. Congratulations Drs.
