This spring semester, we were lucky enough to have two special guest speakers: Luoluo Hong and
alumni Garrett Hand. Luoluo spoke to the chapter about what it takes to be a leader. Garrett spoke to the
chapter about his current job as a pharmacist in the Navy.
The chapter also hosted several workshops. The curriculum vitae workshop gave chapter members
the opportunity to update and improve their CV’s with help and input from other members. The membership
interview gave the pledges a chance to interview one another and then present what they learned to the active
members. It was a great opportunity for all the members to learn about each other. The leadership workshop
hosted by Ana taught members about their strengths and weaknesses as leaders.
The scholastic’s committee also put together several study sessions for the law class. The committee
hopes to put together more study sessions for the future and for all difficult classes.

This semester PDC Gamma Theta
chapter participated in many community
service events. The semester started off with
both pledges and actives cleaning up the UH
Hilo campus garden area. The chapter made
several donations to different charities and
organizations including donations to Relay
for Life and to a Kappa Psi community
service project. The chapter donated food to
the food bank and donated clothes to
Goodwill.
The Hilo Heart Walk and the
Student Health Center Immunization Clinic
gave members an opportunity to help the
community and to improve their clinical
pharmacy skills.
Two new community service
projects this semester were the visiting of the
Hilo Medical Center pediatrics unit and the
first ever AID’s walk in Hilo. The chapter
hopes to continue these service projects in
the future.

Second Annual Miloli’I Health Fair PDC Gamma Theta chapter hosted
the Second Annual Miloli’i Health
Fair in Miloli’i Hawaii. This year
PDC expanded the health fair and
brought in several visitors, HIV
screening, and a live band. More
brothers attended and participated
in the fair this year. The number of
community members that attended
also increased. There were new
informational booths and

children’s activities. This year
about 150 people in total attended
the health fair.
This semester was filled with fun activities
for all the brothers. Brother’s were able to
participate in dodge ball and paint ball. There
were several social outings like game night, a
St. Patrick’s Day celebration and an end of
the year BBQ.
PDC Social Events
Regional Conference in Portland
For the first time Gamma Theta was able to send many of its members to the Regional Conference in Portland. The brothers who
attended had a wonderful time meeting other PDC members and were able to bring back a lot of information for the other brothers
of the chapter who could not attend.

As a founding member of the Gamma
Theta Chapter of Phi Delta Chi, my hope
was to be a part of creating something that
would grow into a true brotherhood that I
could be proud of. I had no idea how far
our chapter would come in the next two
years, and I am amazed by the dedication
and hard work that you, my brothers, have
put into making our chapter such a
success. As incoming WCC I pledged to
promote scholastic, professional, and
social growth of our brothers, but I didn’t
realize how much I would grow myself,
and I thank you for the opportunity to
serve as your leader. I would especially
like to thank my fellow officers for
Message From Outgoing WCC
Aloha brothers! What an exciting
year it has been for all of us. I am
truly honored to work for each and
every one of you as Worthy Chief
Counselor. I am continually inspired
by the fraternal spirit and bond we’ve
created over the past year, and I look
forward to being a part of it forever.
To the new pledges, I thank you for
the enthusiasm and energy you have
brought the Gamma Theta chapter of
Phi Delta Chi. You have made it
possible for us to reach out to the
community as significantly as we

making it possible for me to have this experience, which is undoubtedly the
highlight of my pharmacy career thus
far.
With the initiation of our 100th
brother, and the installation of the best
set of officers this chapter has ever
seen, I am confident that our
brotherhood will continue to grow and
create the future leaders in pharmacy
that our profession and our country
needs. Toward that end, I’d like to
remind you to keep in mind the
purpose of all that we do. The
knowledge, skills, and relationships we
foster make us better able to serve, and
I am excited to see what you, my
brothers, are able to do with the power
that our brotherhood gives us.

have this past year. I challenge all of
us to adopt this spirit in our efforts
this coming year. To the brothers
leaving for rotations, you will be
missed. We have such a wonderful
PDC family with all of you, and we
wish you the best of luck on your
journeys. I challenge all of you to
keep up your connections with us this
next year, though it may not always
be face to face. Today, I make my
promise to you, the Gamma Theta
chapter of Phi Delta Chi, to do my
best in ensuring that each one of us
has the opportunity to develop as
individuals, as brothers, and as future
pharmacists.

At the end of the year Gamma Theta brothers
gathered to celebrate our P4’s graduating.
The chapter hosted a cord ceremony and a
reception for the brothers and their guests.
Good-Bye to Our P4 Brothers
Jeremy Watson (WCC, 2010-2011) - Upon graduation
this May, has accepted a contract offer from CVS in
the Houston area and has also been offered a PRN
hospital position at Tomball Regional Hospital.
Eugene Talatala - Currently working in Midtown in
New York City for Pfizer in their product safety
surveillance and reporting group. I wanted to try to
branch out to industry and explore the other
opportunities that are available for Pharmacists. So far
things are going well!
