IPOPHL Enforcement Mandate

Coordinate with other government agencies and the

private sector efforts to formulate and implement plans and policies to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights in the country

In 2005, IPOPHL firmly established its role as the lead coordinator of the inter-agency body for strengthening the IP regime in the country. On 21 June 2008, the inter-agency body was formally established through the issuance by the President of Executive Order No. 736 creating the National Committee on Intellectual Property Rights (NCIPR).

• Public info & education campaign on the

importance of IPR to national development and global competitiveness.

• Intensify regular and effective enforcement against IPR violations, and to allocate sufficient resources to ensure effective prosecution.

• Coordination with the Judiciary to ensure that courts are adequately skilled in IP cases, and improve the adjudication of IP cases.

• Policy and legislative proposals on IP laws.

• Database and enforcement monitoring system, consolidate information and reports from other agencies.
