Phillip Island Nature Parks Foundation – Year 2 Education Programs Our mission is: To develop a greater understanding of the natural environment through exploration, investigation and hands on activities. Phillip Island Nature Parks is a self-funded organisation dedicated to the conservation of Phillip Island’s wildlife and natural features. Rangers undertake talks, walks and hands on activities which provide an enhanced understanding of Phillip Island’s diverse natural systems. Our structured education programs promote lifelong learning and are linked to the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and The Victorian Curriculum. Activities are presented by rangers who are nationally accreditied eco-guides with level 2 first aid qualifications. Our rangers hold current Working with Children Checks or are registered teachers. All activities require participants to have closed shoes and sun protection. Our mission is:

To develop a greater understanding of the natural environment through exploration, investigation and hands on activities.

Phillip Island Nature Parks is a self-funded organisation dedicated to the conservation of Phillip Island’s wildlife and natural features.

Beach TreasuresWith the guidance of a ranger, students discover and learn about the treasures that are washed up on our beaches. Students touch and feel seaweed, sponges, shells and even shark eggs! They develop an understanding of marine debris and the importance of looking after our marine environment. Topics include:

Location: Penguin Parade/Summerlands Beach/Smiths Beach/Flynns Beach Duration: 1 hour Ratio: 1:25 Price: $110

Farm Time Frolic Enjoy exploring the heritage farm and learning about animals and farming life. Admire the gardens and enjoy the stories of the past. Take a journey back in time, learn about sustainability, play games, carry out chores and work as a team. Topics include:

�Farm animals � Aboriginal and European history

�Team work/old time games � Sustainability

Chirpy ChicksThrough imagination, storytelling and fun activities rangers take students on a journey where they become a little penguin for a day; discovering what life is like for these tough little birds. Starting and finishing their day in the burrow, students imagine themselves as a raft of little penguins travelling out to sea for a day of fishing. Along the way they discover the many threats facing little penguins and feel empowered to take action to help protect our marine environment. Topics include:

Koala CapersJoin our rangers on their capers through the Koala Conservation Centre. Students will journey through our tree top boardwalks to find out all the coolest koala information, including what is special about their claws and why they sleep so long. Our rangers will take students through this special and fragile habitat, and empower the students to make a difference. Topics include:

Just for PupsOn a ranger led tour at the Nobbies, students discover Phillip Island’s sensational seals!

Through imagination, puppet play and boardwalk exploration, students discover the importance of the Australian fur seal’s physical features, life-cycles and adaptations for survival. They discuss the threats seals face and ways to contribute to a healthy marine environment. Topics include:

Mini Beast Wetlands and MeThe wetland environment is a perfect place to discover mini beasts. With fun activities, students explore the mini beasts found in and around our wetlands eco-system. The knowledge gained from investigating lifecycles and classifications encourages students to make a difference in their everyday life. Topics include:
