Intro to EgyptThe Nile is the world’s largest

river—4,000 miles long!Flows from its sources in central

Africa to the Mediterranean.The Nile has two sources:

The Blue Nile starts in Ethiopia’s highlands

The White Nile starts in central Africa’s swamps

They meet in Khartoum, present-day Sudan

Land of the NileThe Nile runs South to NorthUpper Egypt is Southern Egypt; Lower Egypt

in Northern EgyptSemi-nomadic people have lived in Egypt

since 5000 BCE

Legend says seven kings ruled the area.
