1 Using the Phoenix template at the end of these instructions, score the folding lines, then cut along all the solid lines, including the eyes and the tabs for the interlocking joints, as depicted in How to Use This Book on pages 7-14 in the book Paper Monsters & Curious Creatures.

2 Fold the body in half following the scored centerline. Fold over the head while valley folding the center of its top. A

3 Fold over just the face. Fold out both feet. B

4 Fold in the beak toward the head. Roll the feet over a dowel. Apply a small amount of glue on the inside of the two halves of the crown and press them together until they are adhered. C D

5 Work on the wings next. Hold the round bottom of one wing and bring it to the center. Interlock the cut you made and the base of the wing as illustrated. Repeat this for both wings. E F

6 Now connect the body and the wings by using the two pointed connectors as shown in the illustration. G H

7 Add color to your Phoenix by referencing the project photos.

8 To display your Phoenix by suspending it with a thread, run the thread through the point marked X for good balance.
