History of Farley’s
Larry Farley ran moonshine in West Virginia until he felt he would surely go to jail. Instead he enlisted in U.S. Navy and was schooled in refrigeration. His wife Susie had been working at Morton’s Frozen Foods for five years when Larry got out of the Navy. Larry made a friendly wager with his wife that he would start making more money than she had been making. To say the least, it happened. While working full time at Morton’s Frozen
Foods Larry did a few part time jobs, like a meat packing plant and building an ice skating rink.
Freezing Equipment Sales (FES) had a few service technicians working at Morton’s, and they shared that FES was looking for some good help. So off to York Pennsylvania they went. While working for F.E.S. Larry traveled the world installing and servicing refrigeration systems. His specialty was trouble shooting if no one else could fix it, Farley could and this was his ever-growing legend.
In 1971 Larry came to Florida on a service call, he fell in love with the weather and was determined to remain in Florida. Larry got a job with the local Vilter representative. After seven years Larry decided to try it on his own. Larry was told that “You will never make it in this business driving that ugly truck and wearing those bib overalls!” This ultimately became Farley’s first logo.
So in 1978 Larry and Susie mortgaged the house, set up shop and purchased their first load of equipment. The first compressor that was sold has been purchased back and is now in front of our office. Larry and Susie started the business to give a personal touch service at a fair price. Larry and Susie’s personal goal of paying the bills and supporting their two sons, Jake and Arlie, was achieved beyond imagination.
Well as this story goes “all ain’t a bed of roses.” In 1987 a massive fire in Eustis, FL, at the Farley home and shop, left the family with the loss of everything they owned except for the clothes on their back and Larry’s ugly service truck. Larry and Susie moved the business to Astatula and rebuilt. In 1993 Larry was loading some equipment and broke his back, it was at this time Jake and Arlie stepped up to keep Farley’s running as usual and maintain their parents philosophy “Personal Touch Service”
On April 4 2001 Larry Farley passed away. But we can say “heaven is a cooler place because we know they have one of the best refrigeration service men.” Larry’s ugly truck is still in the same spot he parked it prior to his passing. Since Jake and Arlie took over, Farley’s sells new equipment but specializes in aftermarket parts and reconditioned compressors. Farley’s is constantly adding to the ever-increasing line of parts and products.
In 2005, both the IIAR and RETA national conventions were held in Florida. That was the perfect storm for our small company, to have national attention. We set up a booth and have grown every year since. We strive to keep our overhead low. We buy in quantity and pass on the savings. We have to thank our customers for our success and growth. We are thankful for our many blessings. After many requests and much thought we have assembled the first catalog.

Every compressor is disassembled completely and cleaned, frame and external parts are inspected for reuse, Cylinders are cleaned, honed and seats are lapped.
Connecting rods receive new bushings and rod bolts. Discharge valve assemblies are cleaned, lapped and reassembled with new diaphragms. Pistons are cleaned inspected and receive new rings and piston pins. Crankshafts are cleaned, polished and receive new main bearings and connecting rod bearings. Front bearing housing is cleaned and
updated to modernize the compressor. All tubing and fittings are replaced with new materials. All Unloader valves and tubing are new. Assembly is completed by qualified
and trained personnel
Last step is pressure test head cooling and block then final painting.

“LQ” Ammonia Gauges
Our ‘LQ’ series gauge line is a competitive line of ammonia gauges, designed with the original equipment manufacturers in mind. Operation

Mist Eliminators
970BL Blade Blade type eliminators are designed in various densities and configurations to meet specific tower applications. Special features for Counter Flow forced draft towers and Counter Flow/ Cross Flow induced draft applications to meet high efficiency and low pressure drop requirements. BLADE TYPE MIST ELIMINATORS - Blade eliminators utilize a series of sinusoidal-shaped blades assembled into modules using an end cap design. This type design allows for very low-pressure drop losses while still maintaining excellent mist droplet removal capabilities for both cross flow and counter flow applications. Material and labor costs are lowered by installing pre-assembled modules on existing supports, or on a minimal amount of supports, which reduces the net blockage of air due to additional support beams. Though not as strong as our cellular designed eliminators, these lightweight eliminators will dot he job at minimum horsepower and costs. Because they are simple to assemble, the are often used in international projects. When broken down, they can be easily assembled at far away jobsite locations saving significant freight costs over shipping assembled modules. 970BL - Designed for forced draft cooling towers, the 970BL employs the use of three changes in the exiting air-stream to effectively capture entrained water droplets. An additional restriction of the discharge edge of each blade increases the velocity of the leaving airstream and directs it at a 45° degree angle away from the fans. This feature assists in preventing the recirculation of warm, moist air back through the intake fans.

State-of-the-art, durable, high efficiency honey comb eliminators is designed to meet the most stringent mist removal specifications in the industry for both Counter Flow and Cross Flow applications.
HONEY COMB DESIGNED MIST ELIMINATORS - Honey Comb mist eliminators utilize a series of sinusoidal-shaped corrugations bonded to mating sinusoidal structural waves to form closed cells that force the leaving air stream to make three distinct changes in direction. The mist droplets carried in the air stream, when forced to make the changes in direction in each cell, create centrifugal forces on the mist droplets, forcing them to be captured by inertial impaction and direct interception. The high surface area of honeycomb eliminators and these unique design features, as well as those noted below, ensures state-of-the-art mist removal efficiency. Because this honeycomb design utilizes structural waves between the corrugated cells, these mist eliminators can be manufactured to meet span requirements up to 8 ft. (2.5m). This improvement in strength and span capabilities reduces the net blockage of air due to additional support beams. Additionally, these honeycomb eliminators can be field cut for a tight fit around columns and other structure without sacrificing any structural integrity.
NESTING: 800HC are designed so they nest or interlock with the module next to them, eliminating interfaces between modules. This important feature eliminates a possible bypass of the air that can occur when modules are not tightly sealed at the module-to-module interface. In a flat sheet design any small gaps between the flat sheets will cause air to bypass the eliminator, taking

with mounting flanges available on 1, 2, or all 4, wet or dry sides Applications ILA Inlet Louver Assembly replaces conventional cement asbestos and fiberglass blade-type inlet louvers in a wide variety of new and retrofit applications, including air inlets for both, package and field-erected counter flow and straight-sided cross flow towers, fresh air make-up systems, air pollution control scrubbers, and VOC strippers. Features and Benefits • To make installation easier and to allow easy access for cleaning and maintenance, the ILC Assembly houses multiple IL1 Cellular Inlet Louver Modules in a single extruded PVC "frame" with mounting flanges available on 1, 2, or all 4 sides. • Constructed entirely of CTI Standard 136 PVC, for its durability, weather-resistance, and self-extinguishing fire characteristics • Because of their cellular "baffle" design and black color, IL1 modules significantly block sunlight (70:1 light reduction) that promotes algae growth on the interior surfaces of the cooling tower system. This reduces the cost of algae-removal chemicals and labor and allows the tower to operate more efficiently. • The IL1 baffle design also reduces noise leaving the tower through the louver modules by ≈3 decibels. • Proprietary, engineered cellular baffling restricts splash-out, light, weather, and noise but still achieves very low pressure drop results.

Farley’s Ammonia Refrigeration Oil & Industrial Lubricants FAROIL-68 is formulated from highly-refined and highly inert API GROUP II base oils to function under
the most stringent requirements of sophisticated ammonia liquid over feed compressor systems. Besides improved system efficiency and higher productivity due to low miscibility and solubility with ammonia, the performance advantages of FAROIL-68 vs. naphthenic oils include: (1) Drastically reduced oil carryover;
(2) Superior system cleanliness; (3) Superior chemical and thermal stability; (4) Enhanced wear protection; (5) Lower foaming tendency; and (6) Extended oil drain capability. FAROIL-68 is well-suited for both rotary screw and reciprocating compressors in R717 service. It is guaranteed to function with evaporators operating down to –40˚F (-40˚C) with less need for hot gas defrost procedures to remove
wax and deposits left by other ‘essentially” WF-Wax Free competitors. FAROIL-68 is compatible with all types of seals and O-rings used in NH3 compressors including Neoprene (chloroprene), Buna-N and NBR.
FAROIL-68 is compatible with naphthenic oils, as well as PAO & AB synthetic oils, thus eliminating the need for system flushes. Simply top off with FAROIL-68 and enjoy the benefits.

FAROIL-15 Farley’s Ammonia Pump Seal Lubricant
FAROIL-15 is formulated to meet the strictest ammonia transfer pump seal lubrication requirements for pumping temperatures <32ºF and 32ºF & higher. It is a 100% PAO-Polyalphaolefin synthetic sulfur-free pump seal oil that is registered H1 as an NSF food grade lubricant. FAROIL-15 optimizes low solubility
and very low miscibility with R717-anhydrous ammonia along with excellent water separation (demulsibility) properties, complete inertness (low reactivity) in the presence of ammonia and excellent
protection against rust, oxidation, corrosion and deposit formation. FAROIL-15 is compatible with naphthenic oils, as well as other PAO & AB synthetic oils, thus eliminating the need for system flushes or
complicated conversions. Available in 1 and 5 gallon pails
