Celebrating Achievement, Effort and Service
2/3F have had a wonderful time learning all about Cyber Awareness in Life Education Recently.
We also found out that Harold is one very cheeky giraffe who LOVES carrots!
He even snuck into our vegie patch one night and had a little munch. Have a look what he found!
5/6T Celebrating Success
During weeks 2, 3 and 4 of this term, all primary classes participated courageously in the NRL Backyard
League Program.
We were fortunate enough to have the NRL come to BEPS and teach us new skills and drills that are
involved with rugby league and touch football.
All students enjoyed this experience and were very excited to receive a FREE FOOTBALL EACH at the
end of the program.
Here are some students from 5/6T, super excited about their new footballs! Well done to all students who
participated and showed excellence!
Outstanding Core Values Award
19 students from Year 6 were presented with an Outstanding Core Values award. This very prestigious
award is for Year 6 students only who are nominated by their peers for consistently showing our school’s
core values.
All nominees will now be eligible for the Core Values Award, which is given at presentation night, and is
again voted by Year 6.

Sydney West Water Polo
On Monday 14th November, Natasha Watson and
Zara Ebeling represented Sydney West at the State
Water Polo Carnival at Sutherland Leisure Centre.
It was both Natasha and Zara’s first time playing water
polo, they learnt many new skills and participated
courageously.
Another sport to add to their long lists of success! Congratulations Tash
and Zara! BEPS are extremely proud of you.
Glenbrook Spring Festival
On Saturday 12th November all three of the fantastic Blaxland East dance groups performed at the
Glenbrook Spring Festival. After a night of rain the sun came out just in time and our dance groups wowed
the crowds with their routines.
Thank you to all the wonderful BEPS parents for
your support of our amazing dancers. It was a
proud moment watching them participate in such a
great event in our lower mountains community.
BEPS Students Perform at Sydney Town Hall with the ACO
On Wednesday night, Virginia Cole (2T)
and Jeremy Spikmans (3M) travelled to
the city along with the rest of Penrith
Strings (a youth string ensemble based at
the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts
Centre), to Sydney Town Hall.
The occasion was the Annual Fundraiser for
the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO, one of
Australia's top orchestras). The inside of the Town Hall was lavishly decorated and packed with
tables of Sydney's most generous arts patrons.
During the evening, Penrith Strings performed with
the ACO twice: once with another youth string group joining them
(Matraville Strings), and then finally they performed a piece with
just the ACO and Penrith Strings.
In a rare privilege, Jeremy was seated next to the ACO's principal cellist, and
Virginia next to another ACO cellist. Jeremy was even 'interviewed' by Richard
Tognetti, leader of the ACO, right before the last piece, in front of the glittering
crowd. It was a fabulous opportunity for two of BEPS' musicians to perform
alongside the finest in the country.

A message for Year 5 Parents
In the past, Year 5 students have provided food and decorations for the
Year 6 Farewell and have attended. This year we will be catering for our
farewell and, after much discussion about the pros and cons of Year 5 attending,
it has been decided the Farewell this year will be for Year 6 students only.
There will be further discussions after the Farewell to decide what may happen next year.
Many thanks for your support.

Principal’s Report
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
Well, Term 4 is marching on very quickly and all of us are
looking forward to some great events over the next few weeks.
The Celebration Concert is next week and students have been
practising very hard to make sure they are all ready for the big
night. I am very much looking forward to seeing the finished
product.
On 30 November, 2016 at 7.30pm the P&C will hold the AGM. Please come along and support our
wonderful P&C and consider taking a position on the committee to help out. Membership is payable on the
night.
Moving forward we have Aussie of the Month/CAPA Assembly, Food Drive for Gateway Services, Parent
Helper morning tea, Presentation Night, High School Orientation, Year 6 Farewell, OC Orientation, Movie
Day and reports going home! After this we will all enjoy a well-earned break. Please keep your eyes
peeled for notes coming home with regard to these events.
As we near the bush fire season, please be aware that should there be threat to us here at school, students
and teachers will initially shelter in the hall, and at the direction of Emergency Personnel, evacuate to a
venue decided by Emergency Services. In this event, notices will be posted on Facebook and the Blaxland
East Skoolbag app. Please make sure you have your app downloaded and notifications turned on.
We are currently looking at classes and staffing for 2017, so would appreciate parents letting us know if
they will be moving over the holidays and students will not be returning so we can factor these into our
organisation.
Thank you to everyone who has supported our school during 2016, it has been a wonderful and productive
year for all.
Building quality education partnerships,
Kerry.
The program is designed for children aged 5-12 years of age. The camp will run from Monday 16th January – Friday 20th January 2017 at Blaxland PS, from 8:00am till 6:00pm.
Each day will bring new challenges both physically and mentally stimulating each child as an individual.
PHAT kids bring an innovative point of difference to all other school holiday care programs, combining
inquiry-based learning, sport, mindfulness, coding and the much loved history mystery. With permission,
students will post their projects on our YouTube Channel.
