Dear Parents and Carers, Welcome to Term 3. We hope your holiday break was enjoyable and spent with family and friends. It’s an exciting term ahead - keep an eye on the newsletter, calendar and school Facebook page for information and regular updates. This term our students will have the opportunity to participate in Hunter Dance, Interrelate, debating, zone athletics, the start of high school transition, an Olympics Day, Life Education, inter-school sport and our concert. We have a few new faces around the school. Welcome to Tayla Fennessy (KS), Kayla Perry (6S), Rebecca Gilchrist (3M) and Justin White (5O) – our intern teachers for Term 3. We look forward to working with all of them and hope they enjoy this learning opportunity. SPORT AT SCHOOL - Our sport program will look a little different this term. Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 will be having sport on a Friday and participating in the Hot Shots Tennis program. Hot Shots Tennis program is a fun way for kids to learn how to play tennis on the right size courts with racquets for smaller hands. Students will start their tennis program in the next few weeks and it is free of charge for all students. Our Year 3 and 4 students will continue their sport on a Friday. For Term 3 and Term 4 our Year 5 and 6 students will have sport on a Thursday afternoon. They have the opportunity to participate in an Inter-School sport program, held at Maitland Park. Students will have the chance to try out for the soccer, touch football and netball team. Those not representing the school in the competition will be kept busy at school with various sports. Year 5 and 6 students may wear their sport uniform from next Thursday, 28th July. ATHLETICS ASSEMBLY - Our Athletics ribbons from our school Athletics Carnival will be given out at our assembly – Monday, 1
st August at 2pm. Ribbons will be
awarded to students who placed first, second or third in an event, not in an individual heat. Please feel free to join us for our ‘sports ribbon assembly’. EDUCATION DAY AT ASHTONFIELD PS – our Education Day Open Day is Thursday, 4
th August. We hope you can join us for this very exciting day! Each class
has selected a country and throughout the day students will have the chance to travel around the world! The day will involve visits to classrooms across the world, delicious food and a show case of Ashtonfield talent. More information will be given out next week – remember to keep the date free. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THESE SIGNS MEAN?
No Parking You must not stop for more than two minutes in a No Parking area. You must remain in or within three metres of the vehicle. No Stopping/No Standing These signs mean that in the area in the direction of the arrow you must not stop your vehicle at any point on the road or kerb.
The road rules are there to ensure our students are safe. Please be considerate of our school neighbours. Rangers will be enforcing the road rules to ensure our students and their families are safe.
Have a happy week, Deb and Staff.
