Very few schools are able to say they are the first school in Nebraska to serve locally raised beef for lunch. However, ayer Central can say just that. Students are fed real beef three times a week for lunch, thanks to the Titan Beef Boosters, and surrounding community members who donated animals or money to the program. Along with the Beef Booster Pro- gram, a National FFA organization was added to ayer Central. is organization allows members to learn more about agriculture in our area and leadership. As a group they participat- ed in events like Husker Harvest Days and Livestock Judging. “Adding National FFA has allowed many students to learn about agricul- ture and explore what it would be like to have a career in this field. Also, hav- ing a local beef program in our own school is a great way to learn about the benefits of beef,” said the ayer Central FFA president Colton Fang- meier (12).
