The Indian Peaks krummholz section of the Continental Divide seen from the upper limits of the forest-tundra ecotone above INSTAAR's Mountain Research Station. Navajo Peak (13,409 feet) appears in the center with the north flank of Kiowa Peak (13,276) on the left. The foreground slopes rise to the crest of Niwot Ridge and the site of INSTAAR's highest field laboratory (12,300) which is out of the picture to the right.
