GETTING STARTED To add a new

document on Photoshop, you must go to File, then New. You then select International Paper and A4.

To add an image on your document, select File and then Place. Select your image from the file and press ok.

PHOTOSHOP TOOLS Move Tool – click on the tool and then then

layer you wish to move to reposition a layer.

Lasso Tool – Used to select areas freehand or using the magnetic tool that selects around a colour, making the lines neater.

Quick Selection tool - Selects areas so you can add colour quickly. Magic Wand Tool – selects all of the same colour in the surrounding area. Crop Tool – used to remove unwanted

items on the layer Eye dropper tool – takes samples of colours

Healing tools – remove blemishes and red eyeBrush/pencil tool – adds colour or shading to an

image Clone Stamp Tool – duplicates an section of the image to cover up or hide. History Brush Tool – replicates old tools

used. Eraser tool – removes mistakes caused by the brush/text/fill tool.Paint bucket/gradient tool – fills in large

selected spaces with colour/ creates a gradients. Blur/Sharpen/Smudge tool – softens hard

lines/ clears lines upDodge/Burn/Smudge tool – removes colour/darkens colour/fades colour

Pen tools – adds lines or free, fine linesType tools- adds a text layer.

Marquee tool – used to select different shapes and areas.

Selection tool – used to select other iconsShape tools – creates different sized shape to add to layers

Hand tool – used to move around the image quicklyZoom tool – zooms in and out on the image.

CLONE STAMP TOOL

Here I have a placed my image of a woman. I want to remove her earrings. I clicked on Clone Stamp Tool, pressed Alt to select the part I would like to copy and coloured over the earrings.

SMUDGE TOOL

You can see a line where I have used the Clone Stamp tool so I will use the Smudge Tool to blend the skin tones and shading.

MAGNET LASSO TOOL

I want to change the background of my image but first I need to select around the woman to put her in the foreground. So I select the Magnet Lasso Tool traced all around the woman.

FILL TOOL

Now I have selected all of my background, I can now use the Fill Tool and Colour Selector to pick the colour blue and fill the background.

BLUR TOOLI can see a faint line around the woman so I have used the Blur Tool to make the line not so harsh.

CONTRAST AND BRIGHTNESS

I have now altered the contrast and brightness of the image to make the model fit better to the background and to make her stand out.
