Photoshop—Typography Practice Distort type to make it unique 1. Open Photoshop -- Choose Start from scratch 2. Select a. Width: 8 inches b. Height: 10.5 inches c. Resolution: 250 d. Mode: RGB + 3. Write 15 words of your choice, you can choose names or favorite things a. Use a different typeface for each. b. Make the words large to fill the page. c. Make sure each word is in its own layer. d. Try to match the typeface to the word Examples: a cute type for the word Baby, a strong type for the word Football 4. Click on a word with the type tool and go to the Create Warped Text on the tool options bar. 5. On the Warp Text window, choose a style on the drop down list. 6. Do different styles with 5 of the words. 7. Then click on a word with the Move tool and go to Filter>Gallery

Photoshop—Typography Practice Distort type to make it unique

1. Open Photoshop -- Choose Start from scratch

2. Select a. Width: 8 inchesb. Height: 10.5 inchesc. Resolution: 250d. Mode: RGB+

3. Write 15 words of your choice, you can choose names or favorite thingsa. Use a different typeface for each.b. Make the words large to fill the page.c. Make sure each word is in its own layer.d. Try to match the typeface to the word

Examples: a cute type for the word Baby, a strong type for the word Football

4. Click on a word with the type tool and go to the Create Warped Text on the tool options bar.

5. On the Warp Text window, choose a style on the drop down list.

6. Do different styles with 5 of the words.

7. Then click on a word with the Move tool and go to Filter>Gallery

8. You will be asked to simplify the text layer, click OK, you won’t be able to type in that layer again, it will become like a photo.

9. Choose a filter and play around with the sliders until you like the preview, then click OK

10. Do filters on at least 5 words.

11. Click on a word with the Move tool to select its layer

12. Go to the Style and Effects palette. Choose Effects on the left and Text Effects on the right

13. If the Palette is not there, go to Window>Styles and Effects

14. Click on a filter and drag it on top of the word that is selected. Wait for the effect to take place.

15. Do effects on a few words. See the Water Reflections effect on the right.

16. Then change the settings on the Styles and Effects Palette to Styles on the left and one of your choice on the right.

17. Try different styles on a few words. You can combine several styles together. The word football below has the Fire Inner Glow and the Noisy Drop Shadow.

18. At the end all the 15 words must be modified in some way. Either by warping or filters or effects or any combination of these.
