Message from the Principal
Dear Phyllis R. Miller Parents, Students and Staff,
It is an honor and a privilege to be a part of the Phyllis Ruth Miller Elementary school
community. I look forward to forming collegial partnership to ensure that each child succeeds
and to build on the schools history of academic success.
It is our mission to help your child feel welcomed and a part of the Phyllis Ruth Miller
Elementary family. We strive to ensure that each child reaches his/her academic potential
through rigorous curriculum, engaging hands-on activities, and caring teachers. We utilize
research-based practices, technology, and a plethora of instructional strategies combined with
pertinent data analysis to ensure academic growth and achievement.
It is my heartfelt privilege to serve as the Principal. I sincerely believe that a school environment
that is collaborative draws on the strength of all stakeholders and fosters a positive school
climate that makes a difference in the lives of our students. I look forward to working with all of
the wonderful students, parents, and stakeholders to continue the tradition of excellence.

Message from the Assistant Principal
It is with great pleasure that I welcome all of you back to Phyllis Ruth Miller
Elementary for the 2017-2018 school year. I am so very proud to serve as your
Assistant Principal, and I am looking forward to working with each and every
one of you. As we continue our journey towards aiming for excellence, our
theme this year will be to Shoot for the moon; Even if you miss you will land
among the stars! I am confident that, through the efforts of all stakeholders, we
will continue to strive towards excellence by cultivating a safe, nurturing learning
environment that is reflective of high-quality education and promotes
academic success.

School Mission Statement
Our Mission is to provide the highest quality education in and ever
changing digital and media society. The entire staff is dedicated to
implementing the new Florida State Standards. We will ensure that our
students are provided with the tools needed to maximize their learning
potential.
Vision Statement
Phyllis Ruth Miller Elementary School, in collaboration with our multi-
cultural families and community members, will motivate all students to
exercise critical judgement, be informed and involved citizens, and benefit
from their endless life-long learning opportunities.

PHYLLIS RUTH MILLER
Phyllis Ruth Miller was appointed the Miami-Dade County Public School Board in 1972.
She was elected for two additional terms and served as the Chair for three years. She
was the first female to hold the post as chairman of the Dade County School Board. In
1993 her educational advocacy work was recognized by dedication of the Phyllis Ruth
Miller Elementary School located in Miami Shores.
