    More room was needed for a redesigned terminal after the 9/11 attacks

    Additional room between runways to allow simultaneous IFR approaches

    A team of consultants reviewed numerous options and held peer reviews

    Determined the best option was to move the south runway farther south

    17 Asphalt Mix Design Based on FAA P-401 Specification

  • Runway Program Facts

    The runway project will place enough asphalt pavement to build a standard 2-lane road from Columbus to Zanesville (about 50 mi) or to resurface I-670 between I-270 and the west side approximately 10 miles of eight-lane highway

    Move enough earth to fill Crew Stadium approximately 400,000 cubic yards

    Plant enough grass to seed Ohio Stadium 130 times

    Install enough storm culverts and piping to run a direct line from the Airport to downtown Columbus approximately 5 miles

    Install enough electrical wiring to wrap around the airport 4 times approximately 28 miles of various electrical cables
