Picture Manager

The Picture Manager window will initially look as below

By default a shortcut is set to the My Pictures folder. Click on this now.

You will see all of the images that are currently in the My Pictures folder displayed as thumbnails in the main pane of the Picture Manager window.

When you click on a picture it is said to be selected. This means that any actions that you take in Picture Manager, such as display options or editing, will be applied to this picture. You may have pictures stored in other locations on your computer and you would like to include these. Click on Add Picture Shortcut..

The Add Picture Shortcut window will open.

If My Documents is not currently selected, click on it now. Click on the Mixed Photos folder to highlight it.

Now click on the Add button.

You will now have a new Picture Shortcut to the Mixed Photos folder.

The pictures in the folder are displayed in the main window. You can switch between viewing the pictures in different folders by clicking on the shortcuts. Try this now.

Changing Picture Views The images can be viewed in different ways selected by clicking on these icons.

Each icon will provide a different view as shown below:

Thumbnail View Filmstrip View Single Picture View

Try each of the different views now. Try selecting a picture by clicking on it before switching between different views.

In each of the views it is possible to view the pictures at different magnifications. Click on the Thumbnails icon. The Thumbnails will be displayed at a zoom of 100%.

The 100% means that they are displayed at 100% of standard Thumbnail size.

Click on the arrowhead and then on 200% on the drop-down menu.

You will see that each picture is larger but fewer can bee seen. Try clicking on the Scroll Bar arrowheads to scroll the display.

Try also clicking on the Scroll Bar between the arrowheads. You will find that the display jumps one screen at a time.

The display zoom can also be controlled by using the Zoom Bar at the bottom of the screen. You can alter the zoom by clicking anywhere on the bar.

You can also Click and Drag the zoom pointer. Note that using the slider will allow a max zoom in Thumbnail view of 150%. Now switch to Filmstrip view.

You can scroll through the pictures using the forward and back arrows. Try this now.

Now switch to single Picture view.

In this view you can scroll through pictures using the arrows. Note: when in Thumbnail view you can quickly see a picture in Single Picture view by double-clicking on it.
