August 5, Day 1 – Monday: DEPART USAWe depart on an overnight flight from Newark to Lisbon. Dinner and breakfast are served on the plane.
August 6, Day 2 – Tuesday: LISBON We arrive in Lisbon this morning, where we are greeted by our English-speaking tour manager. We will board our deluxe motor coach for a panoramic city tour of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal and one of the most beautiful and historic European cities. Located on the River Tagus, Lisbon is full of life, color and fascinating places. We see Belem Tower, the longest bridge in Europe and the impressive 300-foot-high statue of Christ the King We continue to see the magnificent Church of St. Anthony for a guided visit. We celebrate Mass. Dinner and overnight in Lisbon. (D)
August 7, Day 3 – Wednesday: SANTAREM – FATIMAFollowing breakfast we depart for Santarem to celebrate Mass and venerate the Miracle of the Eucharist. Continue to Fatima where we settle into the hotel and enjoy a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Fatima. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (B, D) August 8, Day 4 – Thursday: FATIMA After breakfast, we visit the Basilica complex and celebrate Mass. Our motor coach will take us to the parish church where the visionaries were baptized and other places associated with their young lives. We visit the cemetery; their homes in Aljustrel-perhaps meet their close rel-atives. We go to Valinhos and visit places where the Angel appeared and the Shrine where the Holy Virgin appeared in August, the outdoor Stations of the Cross erected by the Americans, and the beautiful Shrine of the Crucifixion built on the highest point by Hungarian refugees. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (B, D)
August 9, Day 5 – Friday: FATIMA – NAZARE This morning we celebrate Mass at the Capelinha, where Our Lady appeared to the children five times. See the Chapel of Apparitions, tombs of St. Jacinta and St. Francisco, the Adoration Chapel, the Miraculous Fountain. Time in Fatima for personal prayers and devotion and shop-ping. In the afternoon we drive to the fishing village of Nazare, where we have lunch and an afternoon at the beach. Dinner and overnight in Fatima. (B, L, D)
August 10, Day 6 – Saturday: FATIMA – AVILA We depart Fatima this morning, after celebrating Mass, driving to Avila, the magnificent walled city dedicated to St. Teresa of Avila. Here the atmosphere has changed very little since the days of St. Theresa, to whom the city is dedicated. St. Theresa the great mystic, was the first woman to be named a Doctor of the Church. We will visit: the crypt of La Santa Convent, built on the site of the house where she was born; La Encarnacion Convent, where St. Theresa became a nun and home to the most comprehensive museum dedicated to her life; the Cathedral and the Cuatro Postes (four columns) which commemorates St. Teresa, at the age of seven convinced her brother to run away with her to die as martyrs in the land of the Moors. The uncle caught them at this site, Cuatro Postes, and returned them home. Dinner and overnight in Avila. (B, D)
August 11, Day 7 – Sunday: SALAMANCA – ALBA DE TORMES – AVILAIn the morning we will enjoy an excursion to the surroundings of Avila including a visit to the town of Alba de Tormes, home to the Carmelite Monastery that Saint Teresa founded in 1571. Upon arrival in Alba de Tormes, we celebrate Mass at the Monastery where the saint died and was buried. Following Mass, you can visit the museum dedicated to St. Teresa of Avila, which also holds her incorrupt heart and left arm. Continue to the city of Salamanca. It was in Sala-manca where Saint John of the Cross studied Theology and was ordained a priest and where Santa Teresa founded the Carmelite Convent in 1570. For four centuries Salamanca was the seat of one of the most prestigious universities in the world and, despite losing this reputation in the XVII Century, it has kept the unmistakable atmosphere of a seat of learning. It is a small place, and it is given a gorgeous harmony by the golden sandstone from which almost the entire city seems to be constructed. Today we will visit this impressive and beautiful city: The grand Plaza Mayor is the hub of Salmantine life, the vast Baroque church of La Clerecía, the

August 12, Day 8- Monday: AVILA- SEGOVIA- BURGOSAfter breakfast, we depart for a visit to the town of Segovia, where Saint John of the Cross is bur-ied. We see many impressive monuments and buildings inside its medieval walls including the Roman aqueduct: Segovia Acueducto. We celebrate Mass and enjoy a city tour before continuing to Burgos for dinner and overnight. (B, D)
August 13, Day 9- Tuesday: BURGOS – LOYOLA- LOURDES After breakfast, we depart for Lourdes, first stopping to see the Cathedral of Burgos. Travel through the picturesque Basque region toward Lourdes. Enroute, we celebrate Mass at the 17th-century Sanctuary of Loyola, built in honor of San Ignacio de Loyola, founder of the Jesuit religious order. See its spectacular dome and main altarpiece, built in marble and jasper. Nestled in the moun-tains stands picturesque Lourdes, the birthplace of St. Bernadette to whom Our Lady appeared in 1858 near the Grotto of Massabielle. We arrive in time for dinner at our hotel before retiring to our rooms for a restful night’s sleep. Overnight in Lourdes. (B, L, D)
August 14 and 15, Day 10 and 11: Wednesday & Thursday – LOURDES During the next two days in Lourdes you will have time to pray with your fellow pilgrims from around the world. You have an opportunity to: celebrate Mass at the Grotto, watch a video pre-sentation telling the story of Lourdes, and walk in the footsteps of St. Bernadette. See Boly Mill where St. Bernadette was born, and the “Cachot,” an abandoned prison where St. Bernadette’s impoverished family lived. Join your prayers with those of pilgrims from around the world as you pray for the sick, drink water from the miraculous spring or submerge yourself in the healing baths. Experience Christ’s love as you walk the life-sized Stations of the Cross overlooking the holy Grotto. Kneel in the chapel built on the very rock of the Grotto, in obedience to the request of the “Immaculate Conception.” Evenings are free for optional Blessed Sacrament Procession. August 16, Day 12 – Friday: RETURN to USAEarly in the morning, transfer to Toulouse Airport for your return flight home. (B)
