The last few weeks have presented many opportuni-
ties for service and support in our areas of service. As always, it
brings such pleasure to see our club members come together to give
time and care to insure that our bases are all covered. One thing
that has been different this year is the way the unique spring
weather has impacted both fund-raising and projects during the
busiest week ever.
As the school year ends, we have completed distribution of scholar-
ships for the three community high schools where we live and
serve, Quitman, our base community, plus Yantis and Alba-Golden.
Thanks to Vanetta Plumlee and her scholarship committee for their
work that leads to selection of scholarship recipients. Martha
Scroggins highlights each of those recipients elsewhere in the
newsletter.
At our May meeting we honored the graduating seniors with the
annual Quitman High School Anchor Club Senior Dinner. We ap-
preciated the opportunity to use Wood County Electric's Com-
munity Room when a scheduling conflict necessitated moving both
the date and location for the dinner. Thanks, Debbie Robinson.
Patricia Hightower and her crew did a delicious job of feeding and
feting the seniors, their folks, and 27 of our Quitman Pilots and
guests. It was a delightful meeting.

Alba-Golden graduating senior Caralyn
Dawson a Quitman Pilot Club scholar-

Cont’d from Page 1 Pilots hit the road in two ways beginning Wednesday morning May
20th with Bicycle Rodeos and Brain Minders. Rodeos were completed
at Quitman and Yantis on Wednesday before the monsoon struck on
Thursday morning. A-G kiddoes received their helmets, but the rodeo
could not compete with Mother Nature. Thanks to Bill and Sharon
Prague for their turnkey management of the rodeos and Brain Minders.
Thursday's monsoon could not match Mother Nature's show for the Toyota Bass Classic.
Again, see Martha's recap.
I anticipate June and July's activities as we approach local and international installations,
too. Orlando is fast approaching! Soon 2014-15 will be a memory forever etched in our
club's history and our minds.
Pilots, you are amazing. Persevering, Resilient, Spirited, and Tenacious, you always come
through. Thanks to each and every one of you for your faithful service in so many differ-
ent ways. Sometimes serving individually, often in a group, and sometimes just popping
in to help just because the need is there. It is such a privilege to be a part of our Quit-
man Pilot Club. Marti
This young man couldn’t ride a bicycle
with untied shoes. He needed laces tied
on both shoes! Thanks Carolyn

The Toyota Texas Bass Classic was a soggy affair.
Pilots were able to work Saturday, May 23rd at the
Stage Pit Food/Grill Concession. The Concession
opened 10:30 a.m. and customers kept us busy
throughout the day until closing time 8:00 pm.
Did anyone count how many cheeseburgers we
made and sold? Sunday and Monday activities
were closed to the public due to stormy weather
and muddy fields but the Pros still fished. Califor-
nia Pro Brent Ehrler walked away with the $150,000
prize package recording a 3 day weight of 89
pounds 12 ounces for 15 fish. Pretty impressive.
Concession grillers, Troy Robinson and Craig
Johnson, taking a break. We couldn’t talk
Craig into wearing a Pilot Club apron! Ken
West took the early shift at the grill. Many
thanks to our Co-Pilots for helping out.
Concession customers and a family that knows
how to travel in style.
A big thank you to Pilots and friends who
volunteered to work shifts during the
scheduled Texas Bass Classic weekend.
Even if your day was cancelled, you were
willing to work.
