9th Grade English--College Prep
Pens (blue/black ink), pencils, and highlighters
o It does not matter how many--as long as students have them on hand in class at all
times.
Two composition college-ruled notebooks—one per semester (here is a link for
reference—students only need two).
A clean and organized binder in which to keep notes, handouts, papers, and miscellaneous
materials.
o I am not particular about how students keep their binders--they may have one
binder for all subjects or one binder for my subject only. It is completely up to the
student.
We will read four novels this year. Students will be responsible for having their own
personal books--this allows for students to write/highlight in their books without
worrying about returning them to the school. I have included the list of books with links
to my preferred version. I would like all students to have the same version of the text. I
will let students know two weeks in advance as to when they will need their books.
o The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom
o Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
o Kisses From Katie by Katie Davis Majors
o Night by Elie Weisel

We will read a number of novels this year. Students will be responsible for having their

worrying about returning them to the school. I have included a working list of books with
links to my preferred version. I would like all students to have the same version of the
text. I will let students know two weeks in advance as to when they will need their books.
